Could just have Striden as a crew card? Same wording as his ship ability, make him 1 or 2 points and then that opens up builds across the Imperial Fleet.
Speaking of which, we could also use as crew:
Imperial Boba
Imperial Bossk
Krassis (When attacking a ship within your firing arc, you may re-roll one blank result)
Captain Yorr (Same as before)
Col Jendon (Same as before)
Captain Kagi (After you perform an action, if there is a ship within range 1 - 2 of you, perform a free target lock action)
Captain Jonus (Action: Choose a friendly ship within range 1 - 2, that ship may flip over 1 discarded bomb/missile/torp upgrade card)
Rear Admiral C (After rolling or re-rolling dice, if you have at least 2 hits, add a critical result)
Major Ryhmer (Your primary weapons may count as secondary weapons)
I think they could all be quite useful for the Empire.
I have been flying a bit of the Lambda shuttle recently but unfortunately I just can't it to work.
The tie shuttle is better for just one or two crew and the gunboat is cheaper and overall better at fighting.
Sad times..

Well, it was part of a System Open winning list yesterday, so there are players out there getting a lot of good use out of it! ![]()
Maybe watch a few of the streamed matches, see how people are using it to their advantage?
Oh really? Do you know what build was being used?

Captain Yorr with Palpatine and Collision Detector
Quickdraw with Expertise, LWF, FCS, and title
Inquisitor with PtL, Autothrusters, and V1 title.
When the reaper comes out it has a good chance of taking over as the default palp carrier. In that case the Lambda would likely stop seeing much play (unless Yorr's ability is required). A fix might be needed then.
I'm not keen on the fix in the OP though. Two of the rangeless support abilities in the games have been nerfed because they were so powerful (Palp and Manaroo). Sabine is another powerful rangeless ability that causes problems. I hope the developers steer clear of these in future.
Homebrew fixes we use in our group for the Lambda :
- remove one stress at the start of combat phase (added rule for all lambda, takes no slot)
- Title now adds the Coordinate action
Some nasty builds, but nothing game breaking for now. Yorr is useful now; fleet officer and Hux became viable, which is really nice.

Ah right, that is just a palpy transport. I see the term buzzsaw shuttle bounding about, so I will have a look at one of those builds but I suspect that the upcoming tie reaper will just be better in every conceivable way.

I would be happy with only the rear fire arc. They should have done that from the start. Not these stupid Anti Pursuit Lasers.
A little increase in cost and everything would have been fine
The Buzzsaw Shuttle is a Shuttle with Fire Control System and Gunner, so if your first shot misses you can try again with a Target Lock.
Then there's the Doom Shuttle, which is usually a naked shuttle with Vader to force through damage.
Both can be really effective, but you need to protect the shuttle and be very careful with it's movement - ideally protect it from being flanked by hugging a board edge and covering it's other side with the rest of your squad.
I like Electronic Baffle on the Shuttle myself, being able to ditch stress (at the cost of self-damage) helps free up it's dial a bit, and pulling multiple full stops in a row or full stop & action can be really useful. I'm really looking forward to seeing what the TIE Reaper brings to the party, but I think there'll always be a place for the Albino Void Manatee.
It is a big problem where the old ships are left behind with the newer ships are getting all the new mechanics.
If FFG does not do something about it then sales will drop on the older ships, which is a shame as they are all much more iconic than the newer stuff.
Lambda shuttle has had a LOT of screentime. Tie reaper? Maybe 3 seconds.

I actually ran something like that before. I just go super slow in the first turns and give the GUNBOATS their TL, then I try to follow the action...
Also kinda works with Vessery I guess.

Don't think it is the Lambda Shuttle which is clutching those matches, more so the fact it is a 29 point crew card with five hull and five shields.

Maybe it's not the key element (and you certainly wouldn't want it as your endgame ship), but at approx one third of your squad value it needs to contribute more than just a single altered dice roll or drawn stress per round, and there's players out there who are definitely getting that value out of it, as the results show.

You can't overstate the value of Yorr at the moment. Being able to pull stress off your other ships can be huge, giving you much more open dials, make your PtL aces much more unpredictable, and largely mitigating the threat of R3-A2 and the like. And flown correctly, the three red dice from the Lambda can be a meaningful contribution to the list's early game damage output.
I still think the value of it is subjective to the match up. Having played against some of the current Palp Aces lists, the shuttle does just run away for most of the game and turns in when cornered or a bump is required. Beyond that, it isn't firing more than twice I would wager. Palp on the other had can make a ship almost impossible to hit (x7 Defender with Stealth Device and Palp for example, good luck hitting that with one ship.)
I think the TIE Reaper may see a more offence minded Palp but if not, the small base will certainly help.
