The big Resistance Bomber thread

Yes, the mission/rules-pamplet usually included in a large-base x-wing expansion box will likely define the new 'launch' term.

Gotta say, this kind of bugs me. Like the deployment and docking rules in the Ghost, it's a major piece of rules material that you don't have access to without buying the ship, so if you don't own the ship (anf like the Ghost, I have no intention of doing so), you have to trust your opponent's understanding of the material, or get it through some illicit means.

FFG really should be putting PDFs of the rules booklets from these sets online. Or adding the relevant material to the FAQ/Rules Ref.

As I wrote on September 10th:

instead of writing all the previously established text like Deathrain+Genius "When dropping a bomb, you may use the front guides of your ship. When dropping a bomb, you may use the [5 straight] template instead of the [1 straight] template. If you are equipped with a bomb that can be dropped when you reveal your maneuver, you may drop the bomb after you execute your maneuver instead."

they just wrote

"You may launch bombs using the [5 straight] template instead of dropping them."

For starters, it needs to be repainted olive drab, with a nice, big roundel on the fuselage.

I have no clue what the upgrades or pilots will do, but I find the idea intriguing. The Rebels already have Nym, so hopefully it'll be brining more than just a couple bombs to the table. I haven't done much with Systems or Tech slots, so I'm not sure how those will affect the thing, either.

For some reason, though, despite knowing very little about it, this is probably the first large-base, Rebel ship I've really wanted to buy!

(EDIT: I just remembered that the U-Wing is also large-base, but since I haven't gotten one yet, I'll probably end up buying the bomber first)

Naaah, it should be painted polished aluminium ^^

It is SUCH a big ship, my god.

I would love to fly one.

Given the point cost, I would love to see these shine in epic. Load up a flight of 3 or 4 and then a bunch of baby blues as escorts for 300 points. Maybe a light build of one bomber and 2 T-70s in 100.

So who's guessing this bad boy will bring the 'fortressing' tactic to the rebel side?

I'm into it just because it's Resistance. Don't know how to use it though but I hope I will be able to put two X-wings to escort it.

I'm not updating the post right now, but holy ****, this thing looks good!

All the pilots look balanced and fun.

The mod and titles have interesting places that will need to be explored.

And a four-ship list with the naked generics...

I wish the generics were 2 points cheaper ...

if the Deflective Plating weren't a piece of **** RNG-discard waste of design space, the bomber could actually have been very decent

but no, we got Defective Plating instead

interesting, though, that it ignores all effects of friendly bombs which includes ion and stress

still an rng piece of ****

Well, it works at least once. Given how much health the thing has I’d still expect a reasonable strategy could be built around it.
