Having a core set remain legal so there's one SKU for stores to keep in stock for new players is actually a really good idea.

Same SKU is fine.

The contents remaining the same when it is re-released in two or three years is what I disagree with.

And the same SKU with different contents would be adding more problems.

They did a revised core for Netrunner - I expect that will be the thing going forward for all lcg, where they will revise the core (a chance to add and remove evergreen cards.) I just hope they start selling "deluxe core" that give you a playset of everything so you don't have to buy 2-3 cores and have a bunch of extra cards.
