Orions hunting party

By Coldhands, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

Well, the list won't be impressive, so I needed an impressive title. I wanted to create a list with some of the least used ships and squads (okay, gladiator is common, but not without any title). I like the gladiator, most of you do too. Hits hard, can take 1-2 punch as well. And, a quite basic version comes into play for just 65 points. Without Demolisher, its harder to utilise them, so I created the rest of the fleet to cure this:

Faction: Galactic Empire
Points: 398/400

Commander: Admiral Konstantine

Assault Objective: Station Assault
Defense Objective: Contested Outpost
Navigation Objective: Solar Corona

Gladiator I-Class Star Destroyer (56 points)
- Ordnance Experts ( 4 points)
- Assault Proton Torpedoes ( 5 points)
= 65 total ship cost

Gladiator I-Class Star Destroyer (56 points)
- Ordnance Experts ( 4 points)
- Assault Proton Torpedoes ( 5 points)
= 65 total ship cost

Quasar Fire I-class Cruiser-Carrier (54 points)
- Squall ( 3 points)
- Flight Controllers ( 6 points)
- Phylon Q7 Tractor Beams ( 6 points)
= 69 total ship cost

[ flagship ] Interdictor-class Suppression Refit (90 points)
- Admiral Konstantine ( 23 points)
- Interdictor ( 3 points)
- Projection Experts ( 6 points)
- Phylon Q7 Tractor Beams ( 6 points)
- Targeting Scrambler ( 5 points)
- G-8 Experiemental Projector ( 8 points)
= 141 total ship cost

1 Valen Rudor ( 13 points)
3 YV-666s ( 45 points)

Basically, apart from the large ships, the rest can be pinned down by Orion(the 'dictor), then he can unleash his two hounds(the glads). I think the hardest part is to have the glads in black range till they get activated. But you don't have to care about range if your victim cannot move(much). Minimal squadron cover, wanted as much firepower as possible with as much hull as possible(I know, Squall+3YV=3 defender, lot less pain to handle, more speed. But they just try to intercept any incoming attack and try to last as long as possible.)

Any comment is welcome, also looking for a volunteer to test the list ;)

I really like the premise, but Konstantine might not be the best choice with only two medium ships. Screed, Ozzel or Vader could be more helpful. I’d ditch Konstantine and the Quasar for more activations (two Gozantis?) so you can hopefully first last the glads. Hope this helps.

Àlways trial with Konstantine. Then you find out what you need.

But... But he's bringing two mediums, Phylons and a G-8! It almost feels like he's trying to make speed control work...

According to Yoda, there is no try: Do or do not. I Think the Two glads can take out most targets together, if given the opportunity. I Think They Will ne the primary targets, so I dont fear of losing the quasar. But yes, that ship goes down quickly if focused, making Konstantine a brick.

It’s not exactly the fragility of the Quasar; I’m just not sure it’s the optimal use of points when it costs almost as much as a third hound. FCT on the Glads could help with a speed buff. Between your Phylons and the G8s, it almost seems like your admiral could be saving you points rather than offering further slowing. I’ve never tried anything remotely like this before though, so I could be way off.:P Either way, I love this concept and hope you find success with it!

Its not about just slowing, but its rarely utilised: Speeding up. Meaning what? You can hook a ship out while keeping rest further away. Dude, que up to be butchered. Also, he is the only way to slow large ships. The list is still to be tested, adjustments will be made later on, so just keep those ideas coming;)

Exactly. All those points that could be spent elsewhere after testing.

I advise only two medium/large for konstantine. 3 is overkill.

You find out another commander would've been better. :)

I never read Konstantine or Tagge fleet posts because they don't exist in the wild. :)

Okay seriously though, Konstantine is such a ****. I know Gink put a ****-ton of time into him, and I've done so as well.

He never seems to "work". I think eventually he will, and they keep adding stuff to the arsenal to help him.

I just think for now, he is fun to play, but will not be in any top lists.

(And as bad as I think that is, Tagge is much worse right now in my opinion. Could he be the least used commander?)

I really think FFG should errata him to work at the end of every round.

I think Konstantine is the second worst imp admiral, after Tagge;)
