I'm not sure the benefit here is the same level. In fact I'm quite sure that your suggestion is way more powerful than predator.
7 hours ago, KommanderKeldoth said:I agree. PS 10 and above is too situational for the two die benefit. Heck, predator has lost some of its luster since barely anyone flies PS 2 or lower nowadays.
Exactly. And most ships flown are high ps. So this is vastly more powerful. It's good at PS 10

The K-wing (Miranda Doni is certainly a pilot you need to consider!)
The Y-wing (Horton Salm)
In which case.
Title: Non Ept Generic pilots only
Beginners luck - You may reroll one defense die during the defend stage. If the attacker is PS 9 or above you may reroll up to two dice.
Cost: 2 points
What about that, something to really boost some underrepresented pilots l.
Cool idea!
Here is a version, with slightly modified values.
PS: and that image is simply gorgeous.
I still do not get why you should have a better defense against a more experienced pilot?

Just a case of the mechanics > fluff.
One could make it a binary "If the attacker's pilot skill is higher than yours", instead of a particular hard cap on PS. Either way, definitely small ship only. Contracted scouts don't need defensive rerolls to boot.

I've beaten people at chess who are far better than I am because I didn't make the optimal moves which through them off their game. Moving unpredictably due to inexperience can be an advantage. They still move first and shoot last.

Which brings me to the point of why Small Ship Only?
I like the idea of a low PS limit thought: low (1-3) and mid (4-6) PS range.
I made it Small Ship only for balance purposes.
just need more cards like flight assist astromech - as modifications or other slots - Flight assist is so much better on low p.s.!

Well, er, um, sure.
What ship or why do you think large ships having this would be unbalanced?

I don't know. I was afraid of people whining "that's broken!"

I honestly don't think it would be a problem.

Well, they would be giving up Mindlink or some other offensive bonus.
And this would be another instance where limiting game design based on one stupid chassis that should have just met the ban hammer is ruining the game.

Large ships should not get any more bonus for defense.

Why? (Honestly curious of the standpoint.)
Maybe make it an action and call it Self-preservation?
"Narcisism".
Because, I mean, you will laugh on Han Solo, but you just overstimate rookiepilot#346...so he is going to hit you, where Solo will miss. Isn't it?
I got the game-idea, but the lore-idea is kinda weird eheh
"Fluke" would be a good name.

Because it's much easier to hit a larger target (just try any sim) and because freighters in this game can already outmaneuver dedicated dogfighters?

All in.
(I like it best when rules and fluff line up.)

Not entirely, because. . .

. . .it is an Elite Pilot Talent. So, for some reason, this guy can out-think the aces, even if his hands-on-stick skill is not as good as theirs.

As I said, it makes no sense.

Listen to some Beethoven and let me know if it makes any sense that one of the Great Composers was deaf.
Talents exist in spite of logic. See also: child prodigy and idiot savant.

Sry I do not want to be unconstructive. But I just can't gbet my head around why he sould be better against a better pilot? I do not get it? Why should he be better at dodging Han or Vader than an acadamy tie?
