A Game of Clones

By DB Draft, in X-Wing

I was inspired in part by the new Star Wars Battlefront II to work on some Clone Wars models to integrate into a game of X-Wing. This includes rules for ground units as well which are plentiful in this era (error to some! ;) ) The models are from a variety of sources including micro machines and Shapeways. Here are some pics of some of the units:

I think it's a separatist gunship.

Holy Filoni!

THAT's the ground game people have wanted for some time now.

Oh my, amazing stuff! Now I really want the droid ships (as Scum) in X-Wing.

Are all of those ships Shapeways? And aren't those Clone Z-95s too big?

This is everything Legion should have been.

Thanks, the size of the models is pretty much correct AFAIK. All the flying models are from Shapeways except the large droid (HMP Gunship), not quite the right scale but the only model available. The Clone Z-95 is meant to be much bigger than the Z-95 we have in the game. The Jedi fighters and droid fighters are very small and certainly contenders for only having 1 Hull!

What's the Lambda/B-Wing hybrid on the left side of the Clone picture?

True. It features in the clone wars s5, and was a derivative of the shadowcaster concept after an assajj arc the SC was to be used in was dumped.

Scum faction getting the droids? Absolutely not. They should just add republic/separatist factions. If they won't do that than it should all come in as rebel salvaged stuff. If you couldn't tell I really don't like how in a game about the galactic civil war the faction that doesn't participate in it has ruled the meta with most of the cool stuff from waves 8-12.

Not that I like Scum, I hate it. I don't even own a single Scum ship. BUT, in the Galactic Civil War timeline, most droid ships are under the hands of S&V.

No it is a a HMP droid gunship, they are first seen in ROTS during the attack on Kashyyyk , and showed up in the original Battlefront 2 long before they ended up in Clone Wars. And the Shadowcaster concept was meant for the season 6 (I think) story that would later become Dark Disciple.

Might find more of a home with Legion Rules. Although Legion doesn't really have much in terms of fighters other than that T-47. Unless you want to include the speeder bike as such.

But yeah why are legion models at a larger scale than IA? IMHO Legion should have been closer to this.

Personally I have only ever envisioned these as two distinct factions that only fight each other in the Clone Wars time period. Cross faction/time period shenanigans is not for me.

Forgot to include a view of some Homing Spider droids!
