The new investigators from streets of Arkham

By xero989, in Mansions of Madness

So I got the new expansion streets of arkham super hyped to play it, but as an amateur painter I could not help but notice the figures for the investigators seamed more deleted, and made of a different higher quality plastic. I also could not help but notice that they seam ever so slightly bigger its most noticeable in the hands and face to me they just seam bigger when on the board they don't seam bigger to me so I thought I might have gone crazy. then I stared to compare them to the other investigators I have and there seamed to be an apparent difference in size as well as quality of sculpt, am I right or has the game brought me to the verg of insanity. If i'm not gone insane I would kinda like new sculpts for all my investigators so they can all be the same size and most importantly quality of sculpt, as I feel nothing makes a model stick out like a sore thumb once painted then the quality of the sculpts being different. Let me know if I have gone insane or if this is the same from your experience.

I hadn't noticed this with the investigators. I know the monsters got new sculpts, and they appear to be of higher quality.

You're not crazy. They're better/more detailed. I'm not a miniature collector or anything, but it's pretty apparent. It doesn't bother me at a ll, but yes they are better I'm pretty sure.

The new minis are way nicer than the old ones.

I wonder if the resources spent on the Runewars mini game are trickling down to other product lines?

I noticed that the latest expansion has better quality plastic too. It's stiffer and hardly any gaps or mold lines. The monsters also stay put in their bases much better. The Lloigor monster sculpt is especially clean. I barely had to do a thing to it.

And while I have painted all of the other monsters, I've yet to tackle the investigators. So I can't comment on any size comparisons....

Akachi an Wilson already looked better than the rest of the bunch.

I've painted my entire set and I am a big miniatures fan. They are amazingly better than previous sculpts and the plastic is far superior. There has been a steady increase in quality and they seem to have stopped gluing miniatures to bases and just sculpting them to be fully attached. Some of the detail on the previous miniatures was awful!!!!! Sister Mary being one of the worst? Im not sure what sort of haggard old crone with her eyes placed out they modelled her after. Most players can find her mini and due to a distribution error I got two of them. I have two of them painted slightly different for variety and players can never find her the they do they all hold her up for scrutiny and stare with that look of disgust followed by disappointment ending in a shrug.

The new stuff has crisp lines and great detail. It's not over the top and its fun to paint. They totally shine out amid their smaller melty faced companions.
