Miniatures we use for DH

By Aulus Ligur, in Dark Heresy

Hi folks--this is my first post here, but I've been lurking awhile.

I'd been struggling to find miniatures for our game, but I spend an afternoon, evening looking around and came up with some. A really great resource is the Beasts of War on YouTube, http://www.youtube.com/user/BeastsOfWar , especially their On the Table segments, where they review figs from various sources. A lot of the companies reviewed are in Europe, so my fellow Americans may need to look for alternatives as I did (explained below).

What we have in the campaign and what figs I found:

Adept, female: http://www.reapermini.com/Miniatures/Chronoscope/latest/50001

Arbitrator, female: I went to my LGS and found a pack of old Judge Dredd figs for half price, so I lucked out there. However, here's some alternatives: http://www.hasslefreeminiatures.co.uk/pack.php?pack=1246 , http://www.reapermini.com/Miniatures/Chronoscope/latest/50115 and http://www.reapermini.com/Miniatures/Chronoscope/latest/50007

Assassin, male, Moritat background: http://www.infinitythegame.com/infinity_ENG/components/com_expose/showpic.html?img=expose/img/alb_4/img_1202770468_246_lg.jpg&caption=0024Ninja&date=&location The main site is http://www.infinitythegame.com and this guy is in the Yu Jing range, which has a number of great figs both male and female for assassins. I really like their figs overall, and we're using one for the guardsman (see below). This is a site in Denmark, so if you order from their online store at Corvus Belli, you're paying in euros with an obscene shipping charge to the U.S. This fig, plus the guardsman was going to be $42(!), so I looked for alternate sources. FRP games in California, http://www.frpgames.com/ , has them for much cheaper and a $4 s/h charge. FRP also has an ebay site, http://stores.ebay.com/FRPGames , where I found this guy for a $1 cheaper than their main site (I don't know why, either, but I went with it).

Cleric, male: http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?catId=cat1020005&prodId=prod1140075 and
http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?catId=cat1020005&prodId=prod1140075 . The cleric player has yet to pick one, but I'm partial to the first.

Guardsman, male, feral world: There's any number of guardsmen available, but in particular, the guardsman player uses an axe, so I found this one from Infinity games: http://www.infinitythegame.com/infinity_ENG/components/com_expose/showpic.html?img=expose/img/alb_2/img_1202769702_388_lg.jpg&caption=0075VanZant&date=&location . He's in the Ariadna range here: http://www.infinitythegame.com/infinity_ENG/index.php?option=com_expose&Itemid=191

Psyker, male: http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?prodId=prod2010017&rootCatGameStyle , http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?prodId=prod1070051 and http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?catId=cat1020005&prodId=prod2010020 . The psyker player has yet to pick one of these.

Tech-Priest, androgynous (run by a female): No brainer-- http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/amtp.htm . The main GW site has two more: http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?catId=cat1020006&prodId=prod1070070 and http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?catId=cat1020006&prodId=prod1070077 . There's no getting around the shipping charge from Forgeworld that I've found, but it's not too bad and it's soooo worth it.

Forgeworld aside, I'm not stumping for any one site in particular--there are so many good fig sites out there, these were just some of the ones that appealed to the players involved with their particular characters. This is the first sci-fi game I've run since waaaaaaay back in the day when I ran Star Frontiers. I find the use of mini's much more useful than even FRPG's, because of the distances involved with a gun. It's especially useful for things like Rejoice For You Are True, as that little bugger Theodosia runs all over the **** place.

Hope this helps! The God Emperor protects!

Tad expensive to go for a forgeworld mini,

Ive had a look around at all different models and I can say that if you want good minis the best idea is to stick with the GW ones if you can, however some good substitutes can be found in the Privateer Press games, especially for inquistorial models.

There are even models that you could use for enemies and for civilian issue power armour.

The only problem is that most of the models are around the same price as GW ones.
