Triple TIE/SF

By ShawnRBrown, in X-Wing Squad Lists

I am looking for opinions on Accuracy Corrector vs FCS & Crack on this list.

SF Omega Flight (99)

Omega Specialist (32) - TIE/SF Fighter
Crack Shot (1), Fire Control System (2), Sensor Cluster (2), Special Ops Training (0), Lightweight Frame (2)

Omega Specialist (32) - TIE/SF Fighter
Crack Shot (1), Fire Control System (2), Sensor Cluster (2), Special Ops Training (0), Lightweight Frame (2)

•"Backdraft" (35) - TIE/SF Fighter
Veteran Instincts (1), Accuracy Corrector (3), Sensor Cluster (2), Special Ops Training (0), Lightweight Frame (2)

Thanks

FCS is alot better than AC, first, because 3 hits are alot better than 2, and with Tl+Focus you have a high chance of putting 3 hits (or even just TL if you want focus for defense), at range one you'll be rolling 4 dice, and having a hard time putting 4 hits. Additionally, if you use AC with Backdraft you can't add her crit. And lastly it's 1 point cheaper.

Also I would switch SC to PA, because of all that red on their dial and the sloops.

I can see AC being a useful choice on low-skill pilots (and a nice counter to LWF), however AC is particularly bad on Backdraft, as it doesn't stack with his ability. I would also agree about Pattern Analyzer to be a better choice than Sensor cluster. So, with that, what about a squad like this:

"Quickdraw" — TIE/sf Fighter 29
Crack Shot 1
Fire-Control System 2
Pattern Analyzer 2
Lightweight Frame 2
Special Ops Training 0
Ship Total: 36
"Backdraft" — TIE/sf Fighter 27
Veteran Instincts 1
Fire-Control System 2
Pattern Analyzer 2
Lightweight Frame 2
Special Ops Training 0
Ship Total: 34
Zeta Specialist — TIE/sf Fighter 23
Accuracy Corrector 3
Pattern Analyzer 2
Lightweight Frame 2
Special Ops Training 0
Ship Total: 30

Cool, thanks. That looks great!

There was a Triple TIE SF thread not too long ago if you want some ideas.

I have ran this, and its done great.

"Backdraft" (27) w/ A Score to Settle (0) , Fire-Control System (2) , Targeting Synchronizer (3) , Lightweight Frame (2) , Special Ops Training (0)

Omega Specialist (25) w/ Draw Their Fire (1) , Fire-Control System (2) , Targeting Synchronizer (3) , Lightweight Frame (2) , Special Ops Training (0)

Omega Specialist (25) w/ Draw Their Fire (1) , Fire-Control System (2) , Targeting Synchronizer (3) , Lightweight Frame (2) , Special Ops Training (0)

I have had a good bit of luck with Zeta spec's with AC as part of an aggressive blocker swarm in an epic game. Aside from that very limited situation, I don't think AC's will ever really give you more value than FCS will. Especially in a standard 100 pt game. I do prefer either PA or primed thrusters on QD and BD, but have gotten to the point where I'm not making a lot of red maneuvers and getting stuck in an opponent's arc with no tokens or actions. Sensor cluster's has been my next go to and has done some good work, but I think it probably is not the best choice unless you are extremely comfortable flying them.

I'm also not entirely sure I like crack shot on your omegas. An /sf with FCS is already about as aggressive as you need, and you're going to hopefully focus fairly often for either double mods or more likely defensively with their PS. I would maybe toy around with a defensive EPT like elusiveness or DTF to protect Backdraft as long as possible. The stress would suck and it'd take some flying to get around, but Elusiveness could go a long ways to keeping your TIEs alive. Or throw on a 0 pt ept like Trick Shot on the omegas and a missile on Backdraft. There's a lot of good options in this thread looking at some of the other posts; try some of them out and see what you like and what fits your style.

I had a friend who used to run double Wingman/Pattern Analyzer Omegas and a Quickdraw. I don't remember exactly what else was in the list, but that's a pretty janky start. You're able to pull reds, take actions with PA, then use Wingman to wipe away the stress.

There’s always this option too

Zeta Specialist (25) - TIE/SF Fighter
Fire Control System (2), Special Ops Training (0)

Zeta Specialist (25) - TIE/SF Fighter
Fire Control System (2), Special Ops Training (0)

Zeta Specialist (25) - TIE/SF Fighter
Fire Control System (2), Special Ops Training (0)

Zeta Specialist (25) - TIE/SF Fighter
Fire Control System (2), Special Ops Training (0)

but I run:

•"Quickdraw" (36) - TIE/SF Fighter
Veteran Instincts (1), Fire Control System (2), Pattern Analyzer (2), Special Ops Training (0), Lightweight Frame (2)

•"Backdraft" (35) - TIE/SF Fighter
Outmaneuver (3), Fire Control System (2), Primed Thrusters (1), Special Ops Training (0), Lightweight Frame (2)

Omega Specialist (29) - TIE/SF Fighter
Wired (1), Collision Detector (0), Primed Thrusters (1), Special Ops Training (0), Lightweight Frame (2)

And then always bring debris

Rather an old thread, but came across this concept at our local store; using the combination of Fire Control and Targeting Sychroniser to produce a sort of 'target lock mindlink':

  • Zeta Specialist
    • Spec Ops Training
    • Fire Control System
    • Cruise Missiles
    • Targeting Synchroniser
    • Lightweight Frame
  • Zeta Specialist
    • Spec Ops Training
    • Fire Control System
    • Cruise Missiles
    • Targeting Synchroniser
    • Lightweight Frame
  • Zeta Specialist
    • Spec Ops Training
    • Fire Control System
    • Cruise Missiles
    • Targeting Synchroniser
    • Lightweight Frame
