Tabletop Admiral rehaul alpha or beta or something

By werdnaegni, in Star Wars: Imperial Assault

Alright, so I've been hard at work making a more streamlined list-building experience.

Things I haven't done yet:
Make it pretty
Add the filters and search box
List saving
JSON export

Probably other stuff too.

This is really just to test the auto-filtering/narrowing down/expanding of your selections bit.

What it should do now:
Cater to your collection. If you don't have anymore of a card, they won't show up. It SHOULD know how many of each thing you have, so if you haven't, go to your profile and put in HOW MANY of each thing you own. It used to not matter. Now it does.
Not show you any other factions unless you add temporary alliance
Not show you command cards with traits that you don't have in your list. This includes command cards that ONLY benefit a certain trait, even if that trait isn't listed at the top of the card (ie: Adrenaline won't show up if you don't have wookiees)

So what I'd like is

A. General feedback on how that works, and just pointing out any flaws or things that aren't functioning as you'd like

B. Any ideas that this new way sparked. Did you think of something new that would help? I would imagine fiddling around with it will make you all think of more things, and I'd prefer to hear them BEFORE I dig in too deep, so I can have a planned and organized product rather than a jumbled throw-together-as-we-thought-of-things one.

C. Will it bother you that each faction has its own page? I did it to speed it up, since, for Rebels, it puts 1/3ish of the cards into memory (not counting neutrals), and for the other 2, it's 2/3. Not a HUGE thing, so if people want to not have that, I can switch it.

So without further ado:

Edit: Also, in case it's not obvious, the old version is still up, and currently a much more complete experience. This is just for testing.

Oh, also, I could only find quantities for cards in the core set, so everything else only has one. I'm going to have to dig in and find out what cards come in multiple sets. I'm working on that.

I'm not sure the filtering is working for me as you suggest it should. I picked a list of a more-or-less selection of Rebel units, and the Command Card list is still showing stuff like Adrenaline (which you specifically call out that it shouldn't), Jundland Terror, Wookiee Rage, Force Push etc., none of which can be used by the cards in my list.

(Just thought - am I supposed to register / sign in to make that work? Let me know if so and I'll give it another try... I don't feel like there ought to be a reason to need to register for this site, tracking what I own is one thing, but I own everything they've released so far so I'm happy to make a list containing anything and everything.)

Personally I like having faction-specific pages. I think that's a good change.

There's a Deployment Card called "None" for zero points!?

Can't sort cards by points/name/whatever, presumably that's an intentional oversight at this stage, but since you didn't explicitly mention it I thought I would.

When it comes to tracking what's in your collection (for which I'd have to create an account to try it out, so you may already do this!) - the idea is good, but do make sure to allow for people to add individual extra cards / units. I bought an extra AT-PT off eBay, for example, but not two entire copies of HotE. And for X-Wing I have literally dozens of individual extra cards for which I did not buy the whole set. Also, a thought - to avoid confusion for someone who sets up their account, records what they own, then comes back to this a year later and wonders why they can't choose units for their list which they've recently bought, it'd be useful to have some kind of "you last signed in on dd/mm/yyyy, since then the new expansion XYZ has been released, don't forget to update your collection if you own this!" or something.

I'd quite like a (really basic?) metadata summary underneath the points/cards totals. Something like "X activations, Y models, Z wounds". Just wishlisting though.

HTH.

Looks like the filter keeps resetting. It works sometimes. Weird. On mobile now.

As far as the other things go, everything that's in the old version will be in the new version, this one is just bare bones to test the filtering.

Okay I fixed that. It was something stupid I added and then didn't account for.

The deployment card "None" will go away once I run through the database and fix some things. It has to be there for now for the old site to work.

Sorting is coming.

That's a good point about being able to add individual cards/units. That's going to be kind of a pain, but I'll see what can be done. Maybe it should let you add stuff you don't "have" and just give you a warning, rather than having you put in every unit you own.

Metadata will come as well, similar to the old way.

Thanks for checking it out.
