Well, looks like this year won't be my first venture in System Open tournaments... Only 6 events and the closest one is 9 hours away... (actually, I think PAX Unplugged is closer, but by the time the date was leaked I already had non-moveable plans...)

It says they'll be adding more locations. This isn't the final list.

Seriously, what the heck is wrong with FFG? An official notice of ... 4 days?!? For an event as fun and prestigious as a system open? What the actual ****?

Hopefully that means they'll add more because anyone on the east coast is screwed if they didn't already make plans for PAX Unplugged. I'd assume they'd target Florida/Atlanta region for one and maybe NYC.

Also consider they said 15 and currently 6 announced....so still 9 to be announced which is a lot.

Here's hoping that Origins in Columbus is one location, and they announce it more than a month before it happens.
Why not announce everything at once? They can't still be negotiating with venues if they know there will be 15.

Because this is FFG, and they like to fumble these announcements as bad as possible (cough..... Origins Nationals).

I mean there's a chance that not all 15 have been approved and locked in 100% to announce them and they are already getting major heat from the community about the PAX Unplugged situation, so this was probably the compromise.

Global event, 1/3 already announced. Unless the others they announced are outside USA I would say pick one, chance of getting both is slim.

I would also expect that somewhere in Texas and Seattle have a shot as well for some of the leftover slots. I'd say 3-4 more max in the US and the rest around the world (hoping for an AUS one for the AUS XWing crowd).

You did specify you were only going to go to one of these right? Best guess, pick the cheapest one after the holiday seasons over. That way you can spend thanksgiving and the holidays with your family and possibly be allowed to spend a little bit of your tax return on this venture.
