[Stay On Target] Brainstorm on how FFG can collaborate with the community.

They could fix all the problems with a single official announcement: Armada is dead.

Let's try and keep this thread for useful suggestions like OP desires, yeah?

There's been some pretty good feedback in here so far, so I do hope that FFG ends up taking a good look. It doesn't really surprise me that we have yet to hear anything, if they plan to make some kind of announcement I suspect they realise that giving people something half-baked just won't cut it.

I think some people just left the company (armada related guy) and they need to fill that position. Delaying the wave backs this theory.

Btw, 1-2 days before this topic, I opened something same with 'positive' suggestion.

Could you please stay on Target. If you have a constructive suggestion, then why not copy and paste it here - otherwise, let's avoid theories and conjecture. That's not what this is about.
Edit: I just read the thread you are referring, too. If you're going to copy and paste it here, you may want to trim back the "You're doing it wrong, FFG!"

I appreciate everyone's useful and constructive input on this thread. I think it's been really helpful to have a non-visceral outline of desires in a centralized place where we stay on point. I've brought it to the attention of FFG's twitter account (sadly, with no response) and will do so again today.

I ask that people continue pitching ideas or bouncing ideas if they are so inclined - let's keep a good thing going?

spitball of an idea here..... how about downloadable fleet organisation charts?

You pick your admiral and that gives you a quantity of different ships & sqns* plus access to certain named characters, replacing the full selection with a fleet wide rule or points cut

*eg Tarkin would let you have X Gozontis, Y Raiders, A VSDs & 1 or 2 ISDs, TIE/LNs, TIE/B, TIE/Adv, shuttles with Vader as a sqn but allow you to have a free speed 1 move before the 1st turn (**** the lasers and charge!)

Why do we need to restrict how people build their lists? You could make the argument that it prevents 7 gozanti swarms or whatever, but why does FFG need to get involved with that?

Not need, purely voluntarily, its for list that are more flavour /background orientated fleets than the general list

Think more along the lines of Warmachine/Hoard v2* theme lists as opposed to faction lists, where you have a set commander, a limited number of units but greater cap of those units (ie instead of 0-1 they become 2+) & a small bonus to setup or how it plays.

(*dont know if they kept them in version3)

Double post... from a PC!!!

I would enjoy hearing anything at all from them. Anything at all related to Armada. I don't understand why we need to be holding their hand on this - they just need to follow basic, bare-minimum gaming Community Engagement best practice. They're not even pretending to care right now, so I don't even know why this thread exists - they're not looking at it anyway.

I do like the idea of 'historical' order of battle lists. It's fun and it makes for more interesting choices when engaging in a campaign.

I would see it as more of a limitation on uniques than on ships in general - though some ships might be exceptions.

For example, you could say that you are fighting a battle in 3 ABY. At that time Akbar's fleet consisted of: Home One, Jaina's Light, Admonition, and Bright Hope (along with other generic ships). Corran Horn's flight of e-wings was in the fleet along with Ten Numb with a large number of b-wings.

If you really want to fly Rogue Squadron and Wedge, you will instead have to use Dodonna's fleet which has Yavaris, et. al.

Ah, I missed the setup bonus part. I just heard "theme forces like Warmachine" and I had flashbacks to playing them. My problem with them was either they were too good (Calandra) or terrible (Anything with trenchers). Not balanced well at all, just like several other..... Haley2, Gaspy2, etc.

IFFFFFFFF FFG can balance them well, I'm not crazy opposed to a potential one for some garbage commanders (Konstantine, Tagge probably) but I suspect that it's not easily done.

Balanced forces isn't a necessity in a good campaign, so long as the missions and goals reflect the different strengths of the two sides.

See Star Wars: Rebellion for a great example. Also, the original Star Wars trilogy.

Giving this a bump.

Still no word from FFG except something on twitter

I continue to hope that FFG decides to engage better with this particular community.
