X-Wings > TIE Defenders

By Lobokai, in X-Wing

SPOILERS IN THIS VIDEO/THREAD... fair warning

well... Hera X-Wings apparently will make the T65 the next premiere fighter... or at least pilot Hera might.

Curious... do you guys think this season of Rebels will have any impact on X-Wing the game?

...I’ll save snark on plot armor and how S-Foils are supposed to work for other places.

A single TIE Defender murders 3 x wings solo and only fails to murder the fourth because it couldn't fit in between a small gap, and got fired on by its own capital ship, and you think the x wings came out on top?

(also, screw them for having it shoot with the foils closed, just... pbbbbttth)

(also, why the heck were all those capital ships not bloody shooting?)

Hera’s pilot ability and R2 Astro would be a lot of fun in an X-Wing. I think for the most part, if we get anything out of Rebels it will be when they are done milking TLJ for ships and ideas.

Well no I don’t, but this is an upgraded TIE Defender... real question was whether any of this is relevant to X-Wing (genuinely curious what people think on that) and if there’s a possibility the T65 could benefit

Avoiding friendly fire. No capital ships for them to shoot at and the fighters use other imperial capital ships as cover. On top there are tons of imperial fighters around. So for once their budget restrains had found a proper work around for the lack of massive fire from the ISDs.

EDIT: And btw this was a PS kill. I would assume Hera got upgraded to PS8, while Vult Skerris is still just at 7 :P

Well, so far we've had blue squadron Xs and Ys and partisan Xs show up on R1, Phoenix As and now Xs show up on rebels... And we've gotten no updates on these ships. We're 0 for 5 on revitalizing the classics based on new canon screen presence.

That was a cool video clip! That's the 2nd time I've wanted Hera Syndulla flying something else. As now she's flown the B-wing and now the X-wing! Sweet! Yes, I very much hope that she appears as a pilot in both of these ships, I mean...why not? Sabine is a pilot in 3 different ships, why not Hera? Maybe she could get a different pilot ability for the X-wing (like Sabine for the Shadow Caster ).

I was gonna trot out the old line about 'same faction, same era, same ability' but Dalan Oberos has thrown that rule out the window. I miss consistency.

Yet, defeated by a TIE swarm :)

It looked like it was a full wing of TIE-Fighters, so they had thrawn * double to points in TIEs against those X and Ys ^_^

*SCNR, even a bad pun is still a pun to make.

I seem to recall more than 4 rebel craft as well. It was a full on fighter wing on fighter wing epic :D

The rebels did come in as one squad X and one squad Ys. Lost in the orbital battle already a lot ships, but either way, a full wing are 72 TIEs. And it looked really like Thrawn had thrown a full wing reserve against them.

Oh my god I don't know whether to laugh or to cry.. Good to know that I can keep on not watching the show

It’s kinda funny the x-wing’s kill tie’s like crazy, but not in x_wing miniatures. Lol

Great post, glad with my decision to not reading any of them anymore. :P

No kidding! :D

Oh. And Hera flying an x-wing better than Wedge? Crazy.

Except there wasn't 72 ties on screen :D

For the sake of the story they simply didn't show the full fighter complement of several star destroyers and gozantis attacking, because that would've been too much. Especially since the whole space battle was about a third of the episode.

When the rebels made their break through the blockade, I counted 11-12 fighters remaining. Since they have several named pilots and unique astromechs, that's about 300 points, probably not the best builds tho.

The attacking TIE wing didn't look like 72 ships, more like 30.

Without more information about the rebel loadout (I assume the TIE-s to be Academy, maybe Obsidian), I think they were roughly equal in terms of squadpoints.

I mean, you can argue would be in line with the internal logic of the universe, but if you do that the rebellion loses every time. Not just in this battle, but in every battle.

The Deathstar had probably more than a couple of TIE-s in reserve, but we didn't see them in ANH, so there wasn't any more present at the battle. Similarly, there SHOULD have been more TIE fighters, but there weren't.

That was Vader and Tarkin's fault. They didn't think the fighters mattered, and that a single squad would dispatch them easily.

It was more about creating a villain (the Empire) that is just too powerful to defeat without deus ex machinae. They had to be stupid, even though it wasn't in their character, otherwise the series would be pretty short and grim.

Well it's possible but the heat of the weapons can't be dispersed so one only has a few shots.

Well regardless of people's opinion on the matter... It's now canon that they can shoot with the S-Foils closed.

Means nothing to fans, especially since everyone would much rather see Rogue Squadron create the update for this ships instead of Blue Squadron or Phoenix Squadron, for one, the color scheme is better.....and for two, both Blue and Phoenix Squadrons have nothing on Rogue Squadron.... even combined.

All they need to do is make

Wedge Antillies

Tycho Celchu

Corran Horn

Wes Janson

Derek "Hobbie" Klivian

Luke Skywalker

Rogue Squadron Pilot (Lower Pilot Skill then the rest, still has a Elite Talent Option)

Make all new cards that make use of synergy between all the pilots in the squadron, allowing different options and even using the Generic Rogue Squadron Pilot, give us a few unique astromech droids, like Gate, Whistler, etc, and maybe a few unique Elite Talents that are lore friendly for certain pilots, like give Corran the Jedi Credit he wears around his neck to justify him being able to get a free evade or extra focus from unconsciously drawing on the force.

Put it with two X-Wings in a box, one Green, for Corran, One painted up like Luke's or Wedges. Maybe even get the Rogue Squadron Logo on the wings and you got a product that will sell out day one.

I'd rather see the fabulous Rouge Squadron.

Yet again we fail to see Star Destroyers launching anything close to 76 TIE Fighters, which further supports the view that the commonly-held 76 TIE compliment for Star Destroyers is grossly exaggerated from 'reality.'
