Who's Ready for Regionals?

By geek19, in Star Wars: Armada

So who's excited for Regionals season to start? I've got a list I've been working on, we've got our store theme song ready for when we travel as a group, and I'm getting the e-mail together to figure out who's going to need in on the hotel we need to book. In short, I'm excited for this, as is the rest of our store. I haven't gone so far as to pick out my outfit yet, but that red plaid suit of mine could use another dust-off and wear.....

How're people going on testing their lists and getting them ready and all?

I'm excited! First regionals for me.

List testing is uh...in the concept development stage.

I recommend putting ships in, and potentially some squadrons. That's a pretty good list concept in my mind.

I was leaning towards just Squadrons really.

You lot coming up to Roseville?

Dunno about my vacation schedule for next year yet. Right NOW, i'm heading to Livonia with 2 friends (they're not on the forums) and Indianapolis, though Roseville could theoretically get added in.

Also, one ship, 134 points of squadrons, commander, 100 point bid. No one will see it coming.

I want to test Nose Punch 3.0b more... but no clue when/if that happens... or if I’ll get time off for regionals here...

of course, with wave 7 delayed, and Myth games holding ours in Feb, it may be 4.0 depending on what Wave 7 brings, I’d it lands soon after New Years.

whats in 3b? if you dont mind me asking for your SEKRIT TECH and all. I'm trying something different with my 2 lists/regionalses

Giving up FC/FCT on the dictors to focus purely on what Squall can deliver as a punch. Whether I still have to go with Rhymer + Biddies, or whether Maarek and Defenderfriends will cut it.

List testing is going well. Currently on Revision C of my tournemant list for this season which I’ve been testing for the past several weeks. We’ll see how it does at my FLGS tournament this coming Saturday.

What I really need to figure out is what regionals I’m going to. I’m not able to go to my closest one in Marietta... so time for regional road trips?

What about both? Specifically the aces, don't know how much trouble you usually face in the ASq department to decide everyone else.

So my dual ISD list is about where it's going to get, at least from a list building point of view. The trick is now that it has competition, since Scharnhorst and Gneisenau have reminded me how much fun it is to dance a pair of Liberty 's around a board, though their performance has not been good enough yet to unseat the ISDs. There's also the old Sloane list that I can take out of retirement. So really I've gotten nowhere.

I'm working on trying out 2 maligned ships for Regionalses, so we'll see what ends up happening with THAT choice. Hopefully goodness? I'll say that after playing Han on Saturday I may have to try to squeeze him into one of those lists, of course.

I need to find a way to actually run Ackbar dual MC80s. That seems like it would be quite fun at some point.

Mostly it boils down to effectiveness vs cost.

Nose punch, generally, gives you this as restrictions.

1. You have Squadron 3. (You can have more, but anything un-squalled will be out of range. Including trying to follow up with Jendon to double tap)

2. One will generally have to be Intel.

3. You need Rhymer if anything striking is at Speed 4. You can go without Rhymer if you are Natively speed 5.

The benefit is, those 3 squadrons are hitting something at speed 0.

Which, with lucky rolls, either kills small ships or drops all facing shields from anything bigger - which are not generally being repaired until at least turn 2.

I had been hoping to have access to Cyamoons by the time my regionals rolled around, but alas we shall see if that pans out. Might have to fall back on the old 1-2 Fleet

Super excited for mine! Dec 2nd. Been working on a list. :)

I'm also stoked for regionals. This will be a first Armada regional for me. My fleet is less stoked than I am, however. My last 5 games have been: 3-8, 6-5, 6-5, 3-8, 4-7. Ugh. More tweaking required.

I commend that. In X-Wing, I pretty much only fly X-Wings. And that's because everyone else thinks they're junk. (Spoiler: they kind of are.)

Han will actually be probably the best squad cover for that fleet. He won't stop a Sloane fleet, but he'll nibble at the edges and every time I've used him I've made the points back. I'll see if I can dig up an older thought experiment for you. How many activations do you want/how heavily loaded are the death pickles?

Excited? Yes. Ready? No. I haven't played since NoVA. I might just say screw it and take something insane.

Why break from tradition at this point, eh? ;)

That is always the correct decision.

Activations have recently become a compromise on my part; I've been running 5 base for a while, but I recently switched to 4. With the right upgrade suite, I might even be convinced to try out 3, but that'd be something I need to figure out how to build, exactly, with that.

Offhand, I can say two Command Cruisers, each with ECM, LS, and XI7, plus Fishface, Hondo, two Comms Net flots, one with Leia and one with Toryn, two VCXs, and Shara and Tycho comes to 400 exactly. Might be worth a try. If you're willing to go to three activations, I can keep playing around. When are the regionals you're looking to attend? My certain one is early, 12/9, with the option I might drive to North Carolina in March. Which reminds me, @Undeadguy , are you going to that Regional?

EDIT: Screwing around in RK's builder says two Assault Cruisers, each with ECM, RBD, LS, and XI7, Fishface, and Assault Phoenix Home with Raymus, Ahsoka, Projection Experts, and StM is 390. Dunno if I'd actually use that, but it's a thought.

Are those lists much disadvantaged when going first on other peeps objectives?

My local regionals will be run during February, and I'm kind of toying with the idea of moving away from the big ship Imperial fleets I often use and go whole hog with a Leia MCU swarm. Massed TRCs call to me!
