Elusiveness on Ezra Sheathapiede?

By HanScottFirst, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Elusiveness is 2 pts, and you can get a stress if not stressed to force your opponent to reroll an attack die. That means the die cannot be rerolled again, and has a 25% chance of missing, 25% chance of focus (which could mean miss, or force them to consider spending a focus), but 50% chance of still doing damage. So, not that great odds, but the idea is the stress will activate Ezra's ability of changing 2 (focus) to (miss) while stressed before having to roll defense. So, no matter what, you can gaurantee being able to use his ability.

Thoughts?

Ezra Bridger (Sheathipede) (17)
Elusiveness (2)
Chewbacca (4)
M9-G8 (3)
Phantom II (0)

Total: 26

M9-G8 and Chewbacca are just there as potential thoughts. Providing allies with a reroll and an action each round for a 26 pt ship with 5 hp, good defensive ability, and Chewbacca (so really 5 hull and 2 shields) doesn't seem too bad. Phantom II is just for fun, probably would not fly this with the Ghost.

Maybe? Elusiveness is going to be fairly good on any Ezra in general. Sheathipede doesn't necessarily excite me, however. M9-G8 helps Ezra grant more than just one bonus action, though. But is one free action and a single reroll really worth a 22 point, 2 attack dice ship, even if it's fairly hard to kill? Maybe with Tactician for 24 points, but even then...

An Ezra Attack Shuttle with Elusiveness and TLT might be OK, but at 28 points, is it really better than a 24 point Y-Wing? (Probably not... Elusiveness is hard to calc, but Ezra would probably take about 4.3 attacks to kill from a 3-dice ship; a Y Wing would take around 4.5).

Also, neither Phantom title can be equipped without the associated Ghost title directing you to equip it. You'll note that Phantom and Phantom II don't have a points cost, or even list a ship they can be attached to.

Or just run him like the attack shuttle for cheaper.

Astro of choice...... you can still take m9g8 but now he can take the tl as well as coordinate every turn. Not having the evade he has in the attack shuttle will hurt, but he's still a tanky little poop, and if you build a robust list he's unlikely to be the focus anyway.

The biggest issue with the sheathapede right now is it just doesn't have the damage potenial for it's points. You really need to either stresshog or be doing something amazing with those 2 actions otherwise he's deadweight.

Any ideas besides stresshog??

I really want this thing to be good, mostly so i can fly my ghost XD

Best,

Fenn rau, rex, kanan?

Dunno about good, but flesh it out and it's an awful lot of incoming fire mitigation. You may even have enough for a 4th buget ship (maybe zeb attack shuttle to give kanan some extra teeth)

Like the Rex + Kanan idea; inspired me to come up with this:

  • Kanan Jarrus (35)
    • FCS (2)
    • Recon Specialist (3)
    • Rey (2)
    • Ghost (0)
  • Ezra Bridger [Sheathipede] (17)
    • Trick Shot (0)
    • R3-A2 (2)
    • "Chopper" Crew (0)
    • Phantom II (0)
  • Lowhrick (28)
    • Predator (3)
    • C-3P0 (3)
    • Jan Ors (2)

Total 100

Between Lowhrick's auto-evades and Kanan's own damage mitigation (plus Jan Ors to boot) the two ships should be a massive pain in the rear to kill. Both have a solid offense to boot, with Kanan giving Lowhrick a free focus each round and having his own FCS. Once one ship is dead or dying you release the stressbot to limit the enemy's mobility, hopefully allowing you to keep them in arc and finish them off. You could also downgrade Ezra to AP-5 if you want to throw Autoblaster Turret on the Ghost.
