After reading this I felt greatly attached and wanted to know more about the orgins of my favorite game.

So I scrubbed Google until I found this website:

I have the desire to learn how to play this primitive version of X-wing. Is it at all possible to find the prototype rules and more of the prototype cards?

Pilot cards with pictures of the actual pilots!!

It looks like different pilots could add Attack and Evade dice.

Four hull on the X-Wing

Repair damage as an action!

I really like those sideways pilot cards better. I wonder what the face count was for 6 sided dice that made them go to 8

2 hit, 2 miss, 1 crit, 1 focus, I guess.

that X-wing model looks really good. I think they should have gone with the off-white instead of straight up Tan like they did end up doing.

I'm overall happy with what we've got now, so this is interesting, but Probably not as fun.

Interesting note, the point costs. Academy 4, Red squadron 10. It appears early in testing 50 point squads were going to be the standard.

Hunh, some of those ties are using single pegs, I wonder if originally they intended a more 3D movement element to the game

I use single pegs on ships all the time.

Firey abode of Satan, I've even been known to run my Protectorates without a peg at all...

Did anybody else notice, how incredibly offset the facing of the right xwing is, in the first pic?

This is so odd. The xwing is better balanced with an additional hull (by today’s standards), the pilot cards are different in a way I like, (Would have loved to have an image of all these unknown pilots too), the torpedo seems like it may have actually seen play in this form, and the colored arc also seems to make more sense.

Edit: just kidding just saw the 1 agility on the xwing. Nevermind about that! Although Tie also has only 2 agility, so, maybe?

The card design looks much better. Now I'm sad :/

I'm not seeing a focus action on either ship, so I'd guess the dice were focusless

I always have been jealous of that one thing from Armada.

Hey, there's always 2.0. It would help make the changes obvious :D

There still is. Zoom in on the bottom left corner of the image I quoted from @Arkanta974 , the game round card.

If you zoom in on this image, you can read some of the pilot abilities.

EDIT: it looks like there is focus in the dice and some abilities.

Watch @Arkanta974 's video, it reveals a lot.

Target Locks: Can be spent when attacking to reroll all attack dice.

Evasive maneuvers: Can be spent when defending to reroll all defense dice.

Focus: Choose attack or defense. Can be spent while attacking or defending depending on what you chose to roll additional dice equal to the number shown under the pilot portrait.

Added what focus tokens do

Watching some more videos and it looks like there was originally only one set of dice that were white. They are used for attack and defense from what I understood. Hits results blocked hits results, critical hit results blocked block critical hit results.

Those ships are Micro Machines

No focus results back then. Good find @AwesomeJedi .

I really dislike the wording they used on the cards, but also really like how the different pilots ALL have abilities, and that they change the Att and Def values of their ship.

I think the dice sides are 1 critical hit result, 2 hit results, 3 blank results.
