The Revival of the E wing

By rafcpl6868, in X-Wing

I can actually see the E wing with both revealed astromechs being much better than they were previously.

Flight Assist: The E wing already has a pretty **** good dial and for a single point more you can get these things into pretty solid spots. If bombs drop off in the way they were predicted too and the death of jm5k ordinance carriers, their 3 agility and evade might make them better carriers than the t65 or dare I say the t70. The T70 has a similarly good dial, worse action bar, more health, and less agility for a difference of 5 points. Is this worth it? I remain undecided here. Hit and run corran will still be better with R2D2, but shooting twice, and then doing a 5 straight with boost then barrel roll will get you out of firing range on at least the first pass or two.

Chopper: E wings can take a few 0-1pt systems, cheap modifications are an option for everyone, and a 2pt torpedo could work well with him. I don't really see too many situations that I want to field chopper in, but a knave squadron pilot with collision detector, guidance chips, and flechettes is 3 shields for 2 points and some actions, Personally, I'm a fan. The real merits of chopper on an E- wing is that the E wing is fast enough to hit and run, taking those actions that it needs to for shields

Did they release tiny little paper bags to put over them?

If E-wings were priced to fit 4 of the cheapest in a squad, and then upwards from there, they would be fine.

5 X-wings or B-wings in a squad would also have to be possible though.

Oh, really? So you want a two point discount. Sounds actually about right. But is not on topic at all, because the OP assumes that at 28 points with a flight assist astromech for action economy they would be fine as well already.

Though I am not that sure about it.
I might gonna still try.

SEApocalypse, you just made me realize that the E-wing is what I wish the X-wing was (barring costing) -- three agility, barrel roll.

You forgot 4 firepower, for you know 4 laser cannons. :P

I'm going to file this under false hope. Every time a new astromech comes out it is "Will This Save the X-wing?". Heck every wave and NerF.A.Q. there are threads like. "Will this be the end of the super jank from the last couple of waves?" "Will this bring Waves 1 through 3 through several waves of mechanical power creep to put them back on the meta?" The obvious answer is, no.

Sorry but Wave 6 brought something that really was only toyed with a little in Waves 3 and 4. That is adding maneuvers into the dial set. When wave 6 came along it added the S-loop. Now granted just like how a white K turn didn't bring the TIE Defender alone, it started to expand the maneuver set that the older waves will never catch up with. After the s-loop then came the T-roll which was super effective in not only arc dodging but in revers moves catching a ship that is trying to hard turn to avoid a red revers maneuver. Sure you may be stressed but you have a clean shot and unless that ship has a turret you are not getting attacked at the joust. Some of the Jumpmasters unfair success can be contributed to it having a dial that is better than it has any right to be with an asymmetrical dial that is very easy to navigate and not as complex and unwieldy as it should be. Basically it was given a good dial and then one side was lighten up a bit instead of shifting the balance to one side so moving to the other side was only done in rare occasions.

So until point costs and new dials are given the ships from Waves 1-4 are not going to be making a comeback. Ships like the Y-wings are already in but Y-wings were sort of released in Wave 6 with the Scum so Y-wings are really a wave 6 ship and not a wave 1. But yeah unless it is already well established like Corran Horn and since the community hates any thing that is good (so count on a corran nerf if the horn ever becomes a thing again) it is not going to make it back.

What it should make you realize is how overblown your view on the X-Wing is. The same agility as TIE-Fighters? For real!?
Now we can talk about the barrel roll, we can talk about the price as well. But in the end the X-Wing is a plain, well-armed strike fighter. Think F-18, not F-22, not even F-35. Meanwhile TIE-Fighters are SUs and Migs … :P
