Imps need more Jam

Pretty consistently the Imperials in SW like to jam frequencies and scramble targeting. In the discussion of what can we give Imperials that’s thematic... more jam tokens.

We’ve got secondaries that do it, but maybe opening it up to TIE fighters and other craft could put them into play

-it avoids giving them more token stacking and more repositioning, but still elevates their competitiveness

-it could be used in a modification slot, so that existing and planned jam token upgrades still serve a purpose (namely leaving the mod slot open)

-gives the same net result as many proposed fixes for Imps

I would say we have the best platforms for Jamming Beam (Gunboat, TIE/D)...except for the fact that Jamming Beam sucks. Range 1-2 is a real killer when it comes to cannons.

I agree, just thinking some way for lowly TIE fighters and Interceptors to get it to would be thematic and needed... after all TIEs are typically in the battle only if some larger platform is there, and presumably it’s the thing doing the actual jamming

You're not getting it on bare bones TIEs without fluff calling foul. Imo **** fluff, but not everyone sees it that way

What's more likely is we get a tech upgrade that applies jam for FOs/SFs/Shuttles/Silencers

Tech has comm relay already built in, so jamming tech isn't inconceivable

The TIE Scout is a great opportunity for a uniquely Imperial mechanic. Create some kind of Systems upgrade that is Imperial Only, perhaps Targeting Coordination Array, that includes a new condition: Sensor Ping. Have Sensor Ping allow for either offensive dice modifications or prevent defensive dice modifications and clear when the target moves at speed 2+.

Alas, great opportunities to introduce unique imperial mechanics are ignored on a regular basis by FFG.

Short-range Fighters

TIE only. Title

Add one range to upgrades on this ship with range less than 3.

No, celebrate the fluff.

I’m not thinking the jamming beacon from TIE Fighter PC game... I’m thinking a modification called “Jamming all frequencies” or the like to represent Imperial forces in the area that deployed the TIEs doing the jamming (you know, like every major battle in the Galactic Civil War) that if you miss a shot assigns a jam token to the target if it doesn’t already have one

or maybe if you hit

or maybe you can stack them

I’m not going to pretend that without playtesting I’d know what of the above would work, but it’s a solid lore based Imperial thing that has a mechanic in the game that matches up quite well. The beacon is supposed to be a tight beam version of the jamming ECM platforms ISDs and such use... so it works

How bout this? After the place forces step all Non-imperial ships are assigned 2 stress tokens and 2 jam tokens!

Jamming everyone all the time is a bit too much
