Using soundeffects during online game

By ForceUser, in Star Wars: Force and Destiny RPG

Since me and my players are living so far apart we have started using Roll20 to play together, using either Roll20s own chattfunction or Skype, depending on which seems to be working. I always use Roll20 to play music and various soundeffects to create a more immersive game but often the soundeffects activate late or dont seem to be working. I suspect poor internet connection so I'm researching another way to use soundeffects. Any suggestions? Is there another program where you can play these one-shot-sounds besides Roll20?

There are programs called "soundboards" for most voice chat systems, which allow you to play sounds you've saved on your computer into the chat. For example, there's one called "Resanance".

I've never used Discord before. Is it a good program?

I'd dare say so, yes. Having multiple text and voice chat rooms is nice, connection problems are minimal... It's doing what it's supposed to, and it's doing it well.

Discord is great, highly recommend.

Also recommend it!
