Nerf Herding - Blockade Busters

By Irokenics, in Star Wars: Armada

Greeting Fleet Commanders!

This is our second episode of transitioning iconic Star Wars space battles into a fun Armada format. This time we recreated the Blockade of Ibaaran in Star Wars Rebels Season 2 "Wing of the Master".

Intel Officer Luke commands the blockade led by Agent Kallus, Fulcrum Agent Nick leds the Phoenix Squadron blockade runners.

For those who haven't been following, the way I've set out these 'campaign missions' is to use a system of secret objectives where both players do not know what objectives or what powers the others have like a game of Rebellion. They have a basic understanding of what the other is trying to do but ultimately have no idea and also have their own objectives to achieve. We also kept the units and setup as close as possible to what was featured in the real battle so of course there balancing was always tricky!

Some fun features we put into this game include but not limited:
- Beefing up the Ghost with a command dial mechanic
- Introducing the Prototype B6 (Red Bwing)

- Imperials getting a CommScan ability

We had loads of fun playing and filming this! It ended up being 2 hours long because of all the banter and decision making situations that came out of the "surprises". We are happy for you guys to try it out for yourselves by printing out the cards here:

Let us know what you think and how you guys go if you choose to play it. Remember the key to the fun is secrecy!

Also we are trying to get a Scariff Gate from Mels Miniatures to recreate the Battle of Scariff as the final episode of this series, help us out by donating on our Patreon page!

Anyways, hope you guys enjoy! Please leave a comment of what you thought and any other feedback!

P.S Me and Luke thrive on comments and we love to discuss as promptly as we can. It would really support us if you would just drop a comment in this thread. Just an option if you can't donate!
This is because we do these videos for the love of the game and the community, but when the community shows no interest in our videos then it makes it harder and harder for us to keep posting them here to the FFG forums! Don't worry, we'll always stay loyal to our YouTube Fans!

I'm not able to watch the whole video, but I like these videos so far. I've been kinda working on my own missions to add a little more fun to the game. My last one I tested was with rebels attacking an Imperial station in a nebula with Tie Phantoms.

I first subscribed to your guys's channel on youtube, and finding you guys here on the forums is like an added bonus. I'm really enjoying these new Rebels themed custom scenarios. I like how you guys add your own twist keeps the game fresh! Too bad about Luke's ankle but on the bright side he can role play Kallus even better iirc didn't kallus hurt his leg on the ice planet with Zeb? So silver linings!

Also just wanted to say your content is my favorite armada related content out there. Keep up the good work gents!

We might have to do something similar to episode where Mon Mothma escapes on the Ghost through the Nebula!

Speaking of CC, I have a 2v2 group going right now and have started brainstorming a scenario to obtain Hondo Ohnaka. I thought of putting him on a "modified" flotilla with an objective token. Players fight to capture him by destroying it and taking the token(Hondo in an excape pod), get to a marked zone and hyperspace out. He'll be free of cost but uses fleet points. Once discarded, he flees and the scenario can start over again. Seems fun and thematic doesn't it?

I think Hondo is an amazing basis for a scenario, because he’s always looking out for Hondo. So invariably he helps and hinders both sides. Could be he has acquired some intel valuable to both sides.

These are excellent! Please tell me you have these on KDY!

Love the videos guys everything you guys do is awesome.

For your next scenario you could do the Season 3 finale. Give luke a couple ISD-1s arquitens, and an interdictor with Konstantine aboard along with a few tie fighters and bombers. Give nick a quasar with Sato aboard, a couple nebs one of which has dodonna aboard, some cr90s, hammerheads, maybe a gr75 or two and then Hera on the ghost and a few a wings and y wings. I can't remember if young wedge was in that battle?

Objectives could be kill sato, kill dodonna, kill hera for the imps and then for the rebs be like, destroy the interdictor, keep atleast one admiral alive, get atleast 3 ships into the imperial deployment zone after the interdictors been destroyed to make jumps. etc.

Hehe we are building up towards it! Still need the Chimera, Gauntlet and Mandalorian fighters for it.

I've thought about something like this for the Corellian Conflict recently. Maybe giving him a spy net, diplomat, or Skilled spacers token. Place him on a "modified" flotilla with cargo(upgrades). This scenario could play out like capture the VIP. Still brainstorming though

If i were to out Hondo into the game, it would be as an action card with a hilarious effect. For example.

"play this card anytime Hondo is D2 of an enemy ship.

Place Hondo on the ship card. That ship loses all command tokens, and 1 squadron and engineering value. Choose 1 friendly ship to gain any amount of tokens and increase squadron and engineering by 1.

Pass this card to the opposing player once resolved"
