Ummm...why would Ezra's ability never trigger? I mean, you aren't putting him on the CR90 with Maul, right? He's in one of the escorts to the big guy...

What the.... hadn’t thought of that!

So with all the cards now lets talk about what matters in X-wing, Epic play. (yeah what regionals tournament?). So with all the upgrades spoiled and no ships acting like IG-2000 lets talk about what has changed.

Gunboat:

For the huge ships nothing has changed, but now given the Imperials a ship that can slam and unlike the K-wing perform attacks after a slam you have a ship with incredible reach on the 3'x6' mats.

Killgore or Killroy of the Killigemarph

Well as it has been pointed out the Bullseye does not affect reinforce tokens when talking about interactions with the Aztec (wookie gunship). The named pilots has things that could make huge ship hunting easy (as if it wasn't difficult or anything). But nothing else.

Phantom 2.

Not much for ships but plenty of crew so lets go over them.

swx72-maul.png swx41_zuckusscrew.png

Another Scum only upgrade that lets you take stress which huge ships don't have and you can reroll attack dice. Which sounds very similar to zuckuss. Oh wow that C-roc is looking very scary. Good thing it has only 1 hardpoint and no primary weapon.

swx72-courier-droid.png

uhh, a 0 point crew that can go on any ship. Well to be hones huge ships have plenty of crew and epic has a lot of leeway in points so I doubt there will be that many empty <crew> slots on a ship that will need to be filled. Basically this says you may chose to place your huge ship first or after all other huge ships since huge ship placement is before regular ship placement. It only affects the pilot skill not the overall placement order.

So there we go, Scum got very scary with the ability to reroll both attack and defense for nothing (now I want to pull out my old GR-75 conversion kit I think it may have been broken into OP territory). Rebels maybe with maul but again you have the Ezera bundle deal. Imperials...? FFG hates Imperials, even in Epic FFG hates Imperials. :(

The courier droid wouldn’t help much on an Epic ship. All Epic ships are placed seperately before any other ships in order of pilot skill. So, courier would only help you place after other Epic ships, or before them, but wouldn’t help at all getting a leg up positioning against fighters. Fighters will be placed after Epic ships no matter what Courier does to the Epic ship’s PS.

Uh, that's what I said. i.e. placed first or after all other huge ships ...

I mean if there are other huge ships then yeah there is a bit of a difference as the lowest pilot skill is 1 with the Croc and the highest is 4. So the droid will make you chose if you want to place at the very first or the very last of the huge ship placement depending on if you have initiative or not. Now if your opponent brings a starfighter wing or IG8000 then yup it does nothing.

I don't like to play epic without epic ships. Not good sportsmanship :D plus it looks Soo much cooler

Nope it works. They confirmed this in the preview article for the c-roc and putting Zuckess on. The ship may reroll the dice then receive the stress. Then it throws the stress away immediately because it cannot possess stress tokens.

Yeah, but don't you have to take the articles with a kilograin of salt? The article's position sounds reasonable, but it'd probably be better if we could get an official ruling on this.

Epic Play without Epic ships isn't epic, it's just 300/12.

Storm Generics through and through. Accuracy Corrector and usually ordnance such as Clusters or Prockets with Guidance Chips. Huge ships hate em. Or they can tie up more small ships than they are worth. Evade actions. Shields. Good dial. However I have been considering the non-Vader named pilots just to give the Rebels a break as they’re sick of my 3 Storms

I will continue to use my Tempest/X1/AC on epic game ! :)

The main advantage I see for the Gunboat is the Slam action will be useful against CR-90, especially go behind to not be targeted by is PWT. ;)

This is all small potatoes next to the epic punisher swarm of

Nine proton bomb alpha strike guaranteed to break your opponent AND your wallet!

That's approaching snap crackle pop levels of breaking your wallet....

I would argue it's legal until an faq comes out. It does not violate any rules reference card, etc

Maul on a C-Roc is manageable. The ship costs as much as half of a corvette or Raider and only has 1 attack, so it needs to count.

Maul on a corvette, however, is a crazy amount of attacks to modify. Combine Esege and Finn and that corvette becomes a real monster. Epic is due for a major overhaul of its rules and I hope that FFG will do so before the next wave hits. We're in the middle of an epic league and I would not enjoy seeing all of our efforts go to waste.

First time I’ve pre-ordered two of the same ship. Just because Epic rules are you fly in pairs or not at all! ;) Can’t wait to get them in an Epic game. It’ll give the TIE Advanced a rest.

Every fighter needs a wingman in Epic Play!

I think more than anything, proton bomb lobbing resistance bombers will reshape the epic meta.

I'm not sure it works. If you roll "that many dice" that many can only be zero. Someone else will have to look it up because I thought the rules change from immediately discarding these tokens to never being able to have them.

The reason it works is that the epic rules don't say "when you WOULD" receive stress tokens to discard them instead, or anything like that. They say that after you receive a stress token, to discard it. So you've paid the cost for the ability (you took the stress), it just went away immediately.
