Bug, B-wing, Wookie

By Innese, in X-Wing Squad Lists

We don't know the full dial for the ship yet, so time will tell how good the Sheathipede Shuttle really is, but after reading the Maul crew, I had to try and do something with my old buddy Keyan Farlander.

Ezra Bridger (Sheathipede) — Sheathipede-class Shuttle 17
Wired 1
Tactician 2
R3-A2 2
Ship Total: 22
Keyan Farlander — B-Wing 29
Veteran Instincts 1
Collision Detector 0
Heavy Laser Cannon 7
Maul 3
B-Wing/E2 1
Ship Total: 41
Lowhhrick — Auzituck Gunship 28
Expertise 4
C-3PO 3
Jan Ors 2
Ship Total: 37

First off, using the sheathipede (and Ezra in particular) as a stressbot is brilliant. Basically a much cheaper version of Braylen Stramm.

I also really like the idea of Maul on Keyan. That said, I'm still kind of wary about putting 41 points into a B-wing - they go down quick, even with Lowhhrick's extra two evades. I'd be tempted to swap Wired on Ezra for Draw Their Fire or Selflessness, just to keep your big gun alive for a little while longer.

Definitely want to hear how this goes - I might give it a try myself!

Really like the list idea, seeing ideas on how to use the new Phantom 2 is really nice (because the original one and ghost kind of got sidelined as soon as they released), so creative things like this ezra build is awesome to see right after the article dropped. Also, I've been trying to find ways to bring the beloved B Wing back into the game and at least make it fun and usable for less than half your list: new things like this can do that. And using Maul and Keyan was absolutely brilliant.

Wired actually seems pretty ok on how you have Ezra. I actually really like wired in general (blasphemy!!), and even though when you are stressed you really will only have wired triggering on offense, thats a pretty good ability for one point, especially because that means you can get soft mods on attack and a full mod on defense, with the stress.

My only thing I would say is that if you want to slim down Keyan, you could swap out the HLC for the Linked Battery. You save a lot of points for either initiative or something like Advanced Sensors to help keyan stay alive at PS9. And yes, you already get the re-roll from maul on keyan, but in many cases, especially with a b wing, you only want to be using maul for one re-roll for the one stress, without having inspiring recruit somewhere else in the list. So, on those rounds when you roll a hit and two blanks, you can re-roll both blanks and still end up unstressed at the end of the turn.

Between Keyan with unstressed re-rolls, Lowhricks defensive mods and heavy offense, and Ezra's full modded defense, and stressbot, you should be able to stick around for a while, even when keyan goes down, you now have really good defense on both of your remaining ships, and both can hand out some decent damage.

Awesome stuff! You've got my mind going nuts with new wave (and Phantom 2) shenanigans!

Cow

I would personally ditch that HLC, I think it makes Keyan too pricey. However, the Maul combo is absolutely brilliant.

That gives you the freedom to upgrade Tactician to Gunner, making a more reliable stressbot. I might also consider finding a different EPT on Ezra; I think Wired is too redundant with Ezra's ability. I might suggest Trick Shot for kicks.

I'm not a huge fan of Lohrickk, but I see his appeal as a meat shield. However, if going with that, I would more or less double down on the damage soaking and throw on DTF or Selflessness. That being said, I would personally use a different, more versatile ship in his place.

Thanks for the input ya'll! I made a few changes to the list:

Ezra Bridger (Sheathipede) — Sheathipede-class Shuttle 17
Predator 3
Gunner 5
R3-A2 2
Ship Total: 27
Keyan Farlander — B-Wing 29
Veteran Instincts 1
Collision Detector 0
"Mangler" Cannon 4
Maul 3
B-Wing/E2 1
Ship Total: 38
Lowhhrick — Auzituck Gunship 28
Draw Their Fire 1
C-3PO 3
Jan Ors 2
Ship Total: 34

Ezra swapped Wired & Tactician for Predator & Gunner. Predator can be used to help get the 'miss' for the first shot, triggering Gunner & R3-A2 again, and then be used to help hit on the second shot.

Keyan moved down to Mangler Cannon, freeing up points while still allowing him to prevent enemy range-bonuses.

Lowhhrick doubled down on the defensive, swapping Expertise out for Draw Their Fire. This frees up points, hopes to protect Keyan & Ezra a little longer, and is also 'resistant' to what may be a meta full of Stressbugs.

The plan would be to attack with Keyan, using Maul to re-roll up to 2 Blanks, giving up to 2 stress. Key would then spend 1 stress to modify any focus results (Even if there isn't one) to hit results using his ability. Maul would then remove the last stress using the second part of his ability.

..... I'm speechless. That didn't even occur to me and Keyan is one of my favorite pilots!! I can't believe that I didn't figure that out. Obviously i'm super good at this game ;)

Thanks for the explanation, thats a crazy idea!!
