Quadjumper 1-speed Maneuvers

By emeraldbeacon, in X-Wing Rules Questions

These questions are mainly considering the combination of the following cards: Constable Zuvio (Quadjumper), Stay On Target, and various bombs.

  1. Do the Quadjumpers have six one-speed maneuvers (as implied in the news articles , which are notoriously unreliable), or three 1-speed, and three negative-one-speed?
  2. If my Quadjumper is equipped with Stay On Target, can I use that EPT to switch between forward and reverse maneuvers?
  3. If I'm using Constable Zuvio , can I reveal a reverse maneuver, deploy a bomb, then use Stay On Target to switch to a forward maneuver? (Assuming yes, but stupid)
  4. In the same situation, can I reveal a forward maneuver, Stay On Target it to a reverse, then use Zuvio's ability to drop a bomb? (Assuming no)

1: 6 1 speeds.

2: Yes.

3: Yes.

4: Yes. Changing manoevres offers a reveal trigger for the new manoeuvre per the faq for Navigator.

There aren't any negative-speed maneuvers in the game. Reverse-straight, reverse-bank-left, and reverse-bank-right are new bearings.

I don't think that's the correct interpretation of the Navigator FAQ entry.

"If Boba Fett is equipped with Navigator and chooses a bank maneuver, when he reveals his dial he may rotate to any bank maneuver of any speed."

That's just stating the cumulative effect of both abilities.

Navigator works when you "reveal a maneuver"; Boba Fett works when you "reveal a bank maneuver". Revealing a bank maneuver gives an opportunity to use both abilities, which you can do in either order; that is, you "rotate your dial to the other bank maneuver of the same speed" (Boba Fett) then " rotate your dial to another maneuver with the same bearing" (Navigator) or " rotate your dial to another maneuver with the same bearing" then " rotate your dial to the other bank maneuver of the same speed". You don't reveal your dial multiple times, you just rotate the dial as indicated by the cards.

Zuvio requires you to "reveal a reverse maneuver", so you wouldn't be able to reveal a non-reverse maneuver then rotate to a reverse to use his ability (although you could reveal a reverse maneuver to trigger his ability then rotate to a forward maneuver).

I tend to agree with @kraedin , at least as far as the way Zuvio works. Both Stay On Target and Zuvio have the same effective trigger - revealing a (reverse) maneuver - and can be resolved any way you choose... but if you didn't REVEAL a reverse, you can't drop the bomb forward.

Next question... I reveal a reverse maneuver, and want to drop a bomb in front of me. Which best defines the way it unfolds?

  1. State that I'm dropping a bomb and activating Stay on Target, choose my new maneuver, drop the bomb (and handle any potential detonations), then execute the new maneuver?
  2. State that I'm dropping a bomb and activating Stay on Target, drop the bomb (and handle any potential detonations), then choose my new maneuver and execute it?
  3. State that I'm dropping a bomb, drop the bomb (and handle any potential detonations), then decide whether or not to use Stay On Target?
