What is SCR1BL "scribble"?
Honestly nothing yet. It's more of a half baked idea I had to try and help a local store owner grow the local player base.
Here's the idea:
League Play
Format: Single Core (30/30) ..........yeah I know "I thought we were done with single core!" Here is the new wrinkle: Players can add cards from any one booster to their decks each week, but, they cannot repeat booster packs .
The idea is that new players looking to get into the game have a semi-casual way of testing the waters without dumping a couple hundo up front just on the word of their friends that say the game is cool. Each player purchases the Core Set and one booster pack. Ideally this would start after all the first 6 packs have been released, but, it doesn't have to as it can be modified based on preference. Each week the players will have to play a certain number of games with their core set and the chosen booster pack. Record the results and the booster packs used by each player. The following week the players meet up again and play the required amount of games using different booster packs. Repeat for 6 weeks until all players have played using all packs.
Maybe the store gives a booster pack to the weekly winner. Or has a Core set for the League winner. Or they just do some amount of store credit.
The idea is that it's a cheaper entry point into play that encourages people to at least get a core set and booster. Once they play the game and have invested a little bit, then they can decide if they want to keep going each week at just the cost of another booster. At the end of the league, if they stuck with it, they are already a little more invested that the average new player, and likely enjoy the game, so they would be a little more motivated to buy those extra core sets and start working on constructed play.
Thoughts?
