Nice

This release date works out great for me. I should just be finished painting the heroes from Runewars (boardgame) just before my Uthuk Y'llan Army Expansion arrives. Granted, I still have all 4 armies to paint for the boardgame. I'm not sure whether to finish that first or jump into the miniatures game painting right away.

1 answer... Uthuk Y'llan.

1 answer... Uthuk Y'lan.

So ... as long as I paint the Uthuk Y'llan for either game, I'll be good. :D

Just saw shipping Uthuk with a 2017-11-24 release date.

Bam!

Got my TI4 a day before release too. This asmodee preorder thing might work out to be cool.

(Not that you can throw together a TI4 game because you got it a day early mind you).

C'mon. Just round up the nearest half interested family members for a quick, 30 minute game of Twilight Imperium.

You mean the twilight imperium setup game? Set it up, look at the galaxy, put it away. Fun for the whole family!

I just called my FLGS and he said he got them in today and he will be at the store early on Friday anyways so I can pick them up nice and early (thankfully, because I have to work...).

Thanks, Asmodee! Thanks, UPS!

Looks like there are a few unspoiled cards in there, plus the terrain/objective/deployment.

I was wondering what unique Ravos could have to convince me not to take Insatiable Hunger. Fear Incarnate looks really solid with some of the command upgrades.

Two pre-ordered army boxes came in from UPS to my door today. Thanks, Asmodee!

So jealous! Mine haven't even shipped yet! CSI <_<

EDIT: Okay, so now that I've looked at the cards in more detail (and put them in the wiki), I'm quite impressed. The one thing I thought was missing from all the Uthuk cards we've seen so far is some form of healing, so I'm very excited to see Viscera Goblet. With its restrictions on destroying units at range 1, it may only trigger a couple times per game, but that could be worth it. Off the cuff, I'd say it seems like a decently balanced card.

Fear Incarnate is really cool. I think I still prefer Insatiable Hunger, but with the right panic build and facing the right kind of opponent, Fear Incarnate could be brutal. With a 3-morale-icon card, you are wiping out a Death Knights figure AND still trigger its effects. That's adding injury to insult! :)

I could see Support Spined Thresher being an interesting choice for a unit with Rage Spine. The added Steadfast [Fear] could help when you are taking on more panic tokens to double the amount an enemy is taking. Not to mention it's a beefy replacement for 4 Berserkers figures.

Also i realized why they got rid of flesh ripper article. That's the ripper expansion article that explains why unique were shown. Uniques aren't govern in main box.

Hey your command yet? I heard there's a grotesque that adds lethal based on panic needed on a randomly dream morale card

At first I thought you were possessed, but then I realized that you probably just had trouble typing on your phone. I look forward to the revelation of what you meant to say :P

I'm sure there'll be plenty of unboxings over the coming days. Ive only barely taken in the new cards myself and only snapped one quick shot of the army box cards before I started building. I'm just stoked to have gotten a head start on my models!

Get your command yet? I heard there's a grotesque that adds lethal based on panic needed on a randomly drawn morale card. So you draw top card whatever the morale icons are you get lethal that much.

@Parakitor yes, sorry phone is tough. I was also tired.

The "Up In Flames" objective sounds dangerous! And fun! Ahhh! It's so cool! Kudos to the design team for such a thematic, entertaining objective. Can't wait to try this one!!!

It will be particularly effective against the turtleing waiqar such as myself haha

I'm just imagining, with flames closing in from all sides, what would hold the armies there to continue the fight? Would they not just retreat? The fact that they stand and battle as the conflagration expands brings a heightened tension and desperation to the battle. Oh! It takes my breath away!

@TheWiseGuy , that's a good point. It gets you on the move to avoid the flames. Interesting idea incoming. Suppose player 1 and player 2 place objective tokens on opposite ends of the field, and try to stick to the middle. After the end phase of round 1, there are 4 unstable runes displayed, so player 1 places one objective token at range 5 of the token on the left flank. Now, player 2 can place a token at range 5 of the one that player 1 just placed - the embers from the fire have just jumped the length of 2 range rulers in a single round!

Moving forward in the battle, there is now a token midfield, and a large infantry unit is caught at range 1, locked down by enemy cavalry on the opposite side of the large unit, safe from the nearby objective token. At the end of that round, the owner of the cavalry can choose to place an objective token right next to that one, doubling down on the damage that the infantry unit takes at the end of each round. SO MUCH CARNAGE AND DEVASTATION!!! EDIT: the tokens don't stack damage on a single unit, so not quite so much devastation. It changes the way you use this objective because you want max coverage on your opponent's side of the field, but limited on your own.

Additional thought: units that rely on unstable runes will really have to watch themselves so that they balance their combat prowess against the speed of the encroaching flames.

...I probably should have started a new thread. This objective deserves it. Oh well.

@Parakitor That's an awesome objective! Now I'm looking at the non-upgrade cards that I just skipped over the first time.

Question on Ransacked Manor. As a skill action, you gain 10 points. When it says "Limit once per game," is that once total or once per player? I'm leaning toward once total because it doesn't say anything about "per player."

Ransacked Manor is one of those game pieces I want to create an extra token for. That way there is something physical on the table reminding you there are 10 points to be had, but once someone claims those 10 points and puts the token in their play area, it's clear to see that you can't do it again. It would also be a good reminder for scoring. I'm thinking a blue gem-like stone that looks like the rune shard from the lore guide would be an excellent choice. The first army to get into the house and search it finds a valuable rune shard, which explains why they earn 10 points. I would use Objective tokens, but that could get confusing, depending on the scenario, and once you claim it, how do you keep it distinct from the other tokens you may have claimed?

@Budgernaut certainly once total, otherwise what is the second player looting? ?. It is a cool idea... Maybe I'll buy an Uthuk box for terrain and objectives... Damnit!

I would think Most people buying the Uthuk Army box would be buying 2. You should be able to pawn at least the objective and deployment off of them. I’m not sure about the terrain since it seems You can double down on terrain and two of those carts could be useful.
