Don't forget that there will be way cheaper commanders than vader and Luke. Probably half their cost. So that would mean more stories or 2 AT STS
How big are armies?
Luckily my group plays casually so we will eventually play at a point cost much higher than 800. 800 is way too low to have a true war feel to it. I’m thinking more like 1500 points per side feels right.
What about a battlefield full of just commanders?

I'm not sure if they'll make commanders that cheap, but you can already fit 2 AT-ST's to a list.
We probably will get some heavies that are a little cheaper at some point though. Otherwise, it'd be pointless to have a restriction of 0-3 instead of 0-2, as you can't currently fit 3 in a list on either side.

You'd still have to have your 3 trooper units, but as to whether you could do just three troop units and two commanders, I think you'd still come up short.
*Stops to do Math*
Ok, it MAY be possible, depending on the second commander. If you loaded Stormtroopers up with all of the most expensive upgrades you can, (Concussion Grenades, hh-12, extra trooper, targeting scope) you can hit 100 points. Vader with all his options (Battle Meditation, Force Choke, Force Push, Force Reflexes, and Saber Throw) hits 250. That'd give you 550 points. If another commander could hit 250 as well, you could do it, it's just hard to imagine them making someone else that's Vader-level.

True, the number could be 1,000 or bigger.
But it's highly unlikely that they'll change the tournament standard point value once they set it. People keep thinking that the point values in games will change but this has only happened once, with Armada and that was something we knew would happen when the game was released.
I mean people think that someday X-Wing will become 125 or 150 any day now, and yet that's not going to happen. So whatever they say the standard point value will be, that's what it will stay. Unless they have an issue like they did for Armada where they couldn't get other products out as soon as they wanted to. But that doesn't seem to be an issue with Legion.
