We probably won’t be seeing this new trilogy until 2020 at the earliest. Imperial Assault will probably be outdone by new hotness of the time. Unless it’s IA 2.0 ?

Excited they are growing the universe, but doubt IA as we know it today will be around to incorporate any of it.

If Disney and Lucasfilm continue as they have with one film a year, we've got the Han Solo movie in 2018, Episode XI in 2019, Obi Wan in 2020, and probably sequels to Han and Obi-Wan after that. I'll be amazed if we see anything in this trilogy before 2022.

Well, Descent has been around for 12 years and (as far as I know, although I'm not a Descent gamer) is still going strong. IA is, what... 3 years old at this time? If the Star Wars IP continues to grow and generate revenue for LFL and any licence holders, I don't see why FFG would decide to do away With IA (unless they come up with an improved/better selling variant to replace IA; perhaps Star Wars Legion could replace IA, but it wouldn't, as far as I understand, cover the campaign mode of IA at all, does it?)

Descent 2nd edition is still around, but I wouldn't say it's going strong. They've released a few app expansions and extra modes of play, but the boxed expansions have stopped rolling out. But the rejuvenation of sales it received from the app's release does give me optimism about IA's immediate future.

I'd be happy with another 2 years of IA, say 2-3 more boxes and some blister waves along with the app.

But even if it goes past 2020, I wouldn't want them to incorporate the new KOTOR unspecified Rian Johnson trilogy. I think IA is firmly rooted in the GCW (and maybe a bit of its prelude/aftermath) ;)

It's always easy enough to jump into a new era with IA when they feel they've exhausted the GCW in terms of content. If this new trilogy (which is what we should have gotten in the first place in addition to VII-IX, instead of Retcon: The Movie over and over) jumps to a different era, and FFG wants to market the game around it, a new Core can easily be made to launch it, keeping everything mechanically compatible.

as for SW universe, I'm very happy with Ryan having the opportunity of creating something new . From what i've seen so far he really seems a fan of Star Wars and dedicated all he had with this movie. I'm hoping it's going to be better than TFA.

as for IA , i really doubt it , though no one knows what he will do in this trilogy . If its in OT time, it could be putted in game ( i doubt it is ) . If its after the new trilogy, there's like 0.5% change of it being in , with this being some hope i have to see some TFA "items" on game.

If it's on KOTOR or any other era, then it's pretty much impossible.
