Really Curious about that Sheathipede

By Boba Rick, in X-Wing

I hope we get some news soon on that new little Rebel ship. I'm thinking that the coordinate action on a 15 point support ship can take two really hard to kill Rebel ships and give them the offensive boost they need to land a blow.

This is what I had in mind, with 15 points left over:

Wullffwarro (40) Auzituck Gunship (30), Push the Limit (3), Jan Ors (2), Recon Specialist (3), Targeting Computer (2)

Poe Dameron (PS9 Version) (45) T-70 X-Wing (33), Black One (1), R2-D2 (4), Comm Relay (3), Intensity (2), Autothrusters (2)

Check in tomorrow. Same bat time, same bat channel.

“Sheathapede” seems like it shouldn’t make it pastt the censors.

I’m intrigued by the astromech that comes with it more than anything, but I like the idea of a cheap support ship that can coordinate.

Fenn Rau is interesting since he can coordinate at PS 11 and his novel of an ability it pretty good. You can put R2-D2 on the thing as well. Its definitely not an offensive minded ship. I don't see it ever being used on the Ghost, because the Phantom I is just better with the extra attack.

One interesting combo is R2-D2 crew and R5 Astromech. If you do have to flip up a damage card, R5 can immediately flip over a ship trait one.

If flight astromech is good I will buy it, otherwise I don't see any benefit compared to the Attack Shuttle

Oddly I'm more excited to see the contents of this expansion than any of the rest. There's so many cool little things - two new astromechs, maul, another PS1 unique pilot, a new generic crew.

I’m actually really excited for this one too.

I think people are underestimating the Phantom II title. The ability to coordinate at the start of combat can turn any repositioning ship into an arc dodger, regardless of PS. I think it will go a long way in mucking up alpha-strike lists.

Although admittedly the extra attack granted by the Phantom 1 is pretty tough to beat. I think it will all depend on how many points the other Sheathapede pilots cost, and what abilities they have.

Not without a note, **** no.

It seems, ship is undercosted. It has similiar stats and cost to Z-95, but significally better - auxilary arc, coordinate action, astromech, crew, 5 hulls/shield.

I want to try this first:

Ezra Bridger (Sheathipede) — Sheathipede-class Shuttle 16 (?)
Snap Shot 2
Tactician 2
R3-A2 2
Pulsed Ray Shield 2
Ship Total: 24 (?)

I am anticipating this article because I want to know what the astromech cards do.

The Attack Shuttle can't combine Ezra, Gunner and R3-A2, with an aux arc, for presumably less points than a Stresshog.

I'm expecting an article in a fornight considering that's what they did with the Kimo article.

I'm super excited for this ship. I've always been left wanting for a cheap support ship for the rebels. I think a lot of people are underestimating its versatility.

I think Fenn will be quite a solid support ship, with a lot of options e.g. Jan/Juke, M9-G8, etc to really double down on his ability and make himself quite a nuisance, or a more standard arc-dodging build to keep his ability going as long as possible e.g. EU/VT, Wired/VI etc.

I think Ezra will be the best coordinate bus so far as he can use PTL/EI to his benefit, set off the coordinate without a downside and become much tankier with the stress triggering his ability. Depending on what Maul does, this combo might be even better. This ships access to PRS allows him to regen without taking up a astro slot as well which is a bonus.

We're yet to see what AP-5 deos but Zeb is again, a nice cheap option for a docked phantom. I think the free coordinate is great for ace wingmen, but will also give you a couple extra points to play with over the attack shuttle too.

Flight astro looks like it will quite a good card, most likely on other ships. What I'm guessing will be 'courier' (the generic crew) will hopefully let us swap tokens from ship to ship (that's purely my wish, not an actual guess at what it does).

I think they are alternating Fridays between Destiny and X-Wing. I bet we get a Destiny preview tomorrow and we wait another week for the next X-Wing preview.

I think coordinate on the ghost is going to Be the meta sleeper. Slap TLT and phantom 2 on the lothal rebel and call it a day.

Agreed. If lothal rebel can get in for roughly 40 points with a good sheath support ship accompanied by two hard hitting 30 point rebels I could see that making a meta splash.

IKR... such a dirty feeling/sounding expansion. How is this name allowed?!

What? Who?! A 15 point coordinate that can ride around on the Ghost... this things going to be a royal pain.

So compared to a Z95, 3 points gets you 2 Hull, a firing arc, the ability to dock on a large ship, and it gains the Upsilon special... that’s a really, kinda stupidly, robust 3 points...

Dont think anyone is going to underestimate the Dirty Worm Shuttle

Isn't that 115pts though?

Right. The wording you used made me read the 2 hard hitters as separate from the sheath.

Yeah that was poorly worded.

Haha all good. I was thinking, hang on have i been using the ghost wrong this whole time :P

But to your point, I think Fenn is going to be a strong ship in his own right, I'm hoping along the lines of a rebel omega leader.

Could the Droid in the Sheathipede be the x wing fix?? now that Biggs has been nerfed it could be.

I cant wait for it, my boy will definitely be getting one lol ;)

If it does what we think it does - a free boost or roll after executing a manoeuvre if you have an enemy in arc - then it might be, if it's priced right and the range restriction on the enemy is low.

2 points/range 1-2 would be a good price point, or 3 points/range 1-3.

Please no. I need my Silencer preview!
