Matsu Berserker has a statline of 3/-
Yunako's ability reads: "Action: While this character is participating in a conflict, choose a character - Switch that character's base military and political values until the end of the conflict."
In the past, we these two squared off, we played it that if Yunako switched his stats, he moved the berserker home. We did this based on the section in the RR under "Dash" and "Participating and not participating":
"If a character has a dash (–) for a skill value, that character cannot participate in conflicts of that type.
◊ Should a character with a dash skill value somehow end up participating in a conflict of the corresponding type, that character is immediately removed from the conflict, and placed in its controller’s home area in a bowed state.
◊ If a character has a dash for a skill value, that skill value cannot be modified or otherwise changed by card abilities and effects.
◊ If a skill value for a dash character is required to resolve a card ability, treat the card as if it had an unmodifiable skill value of 0.
◊ A character with a dash skill value cannot be a challenger or challengee in a duel of that skill type. (see D.2 on page 23)."
and
-"If an ability removes a character from a conflict or moves a character home, that character is no longer participating in the conflict and is returned to its controller’s home area."
-"If a character “cannot participate” in a conflict, that character cannot be declared as an attacker or defender for, move into, or be played into that conflict. If an already participating character gains “cannot participate” status during a conflict, move it home bowed"
respectively.
We were playing on Jigoku last night, and it would not allow this move. I asked in a FB group, and everyone said that the berserker could not be the target of the ability beause technically he does not have a political stat, and part of Yunako's ability needs you to target both stats. Though going back to the RR, it clearly says:
"◊ If a skill value for a dash character is required to resolve a card ability, treat the card as if it had an unmodifiable skill value of 0."
Which way is correct?
