New player rebel build

So I've just started, played a few games but would like advice on the list I'm thinking of using.

MC80 assault cruiser - engine techs, XI7 turbolasers, ackbar, defiance, antilles - 178 pts

MC30 torpedo frigate - ordnance experts - 67 pts

Assualt frigate mk2 b - enhanced armaments - 82 pts

Gr 75 medium transports - comms net - 20 pts

Han solo - 26 pts

Dash render - 24 pts

Total = 397

Objectives

Advanced gunnery

Hyperspace assault

Solar corona

What do you guys think? I was thinking of taking wedge , Dutch and a few x wings. Instead of han, dash and a few less upgrades.

Dash and Han make an interesting combo with the Rogue ability you don't have to worry about squadron abilities. Plus they are both versatile units. You could do a lot worse!

Transports with Comms Net is classic, can't go wrong.

Ackbar is a good choice with all those broadsides. I like the Ordnance Experts but I'd consider putting some extra rerolls on the other ships to make the most of Ackbars ability. But you might get away with that with the sheer amount of dice you're throwing.

4 activations is okay as the Assault Frigate and MC80 are tough.

overall it looks pretty balanced, plenty of attacking potential. Positioning is going to be important to ensure you get those broadsides into arc. You might struggle against a bomber fleet but best way to learn is by trying it out.

If you're going with just 2 squads Tycho and Shara are much better because of their counter/scatter abilities. They're also cheaper and would free up some points for more squads or upgrades etc. I like the Ackbar gun line and it can put out some serious damage. APTs on the mc30 are nice to have and you might want to think about Gunnery Teams on the AF so it doesn't have to be between things to get off 2 shots. Nothing wrong really with what you've done except the squads. Just don't think those two alone are going to do much for you.

Thanks for the feedback, I reckoned the squadrons were going to be the biggest drama. Shara is in the corellian conflict box isn' she? Because unfortunately I don' have it. Are objectives decent enough?

I would recommend Leia on the Flotilla.

This is fine. Just try it out a few times.
I would suggest you try out Jan Ors and 3 XWings at some point. And try out some other things in the list. For example a foresight Scout frigate with Turbolaser re-route circuits. You need no changes to the list but you can do a lot.
Bottom line is: Just get rollin ;) have a blast!

Ahh.. I see. Well then as has been said Jan with some X-Wings can be pretty good. Try out Dash and Han by all means. I really like flying Han just because it's the Millennium Falcon and for no other reason.

Objectives... Advanced Gunnery is always good with the mc80.. same with Hyperspace Assault and the mc30. I like Solar Corona too because then you can see where the other guy sets up but it's also in the CC box so you won't have that one.

Edit: Don't forget that you can have Han go first at the very beginning of the ship phase before either person reveals a dial! That has allowed me to kill a squad or two before they could activate the next turn. I remember once when Rhymer was scary I got him before the bombers could get me. That was great.

GT on the AFB is better than Enhanced Armament.

RBDs or Advanced Projectors on the MC80 is great, helps it stay alive much longer.
