What will Wave 8 bring?

By GrandAdmiralCrunch, in Star Wars: Armada

They could expand the boarding mechanics by adding tiers/more expensive units.

After boarding troopers then there could be stormtroopers. Then if you want to go really heavy, add darktroopers for example.

Or, How about Units that prevent boarding?

For new flotillas there could be some limitations for what they can target such as can shoot small base ships and squadrons only but keep them cheap so spamming them is a big risk.

Personally I'd like to see a more robust campaign. I know it's different for a game like this, but I think there's more motivation to be had to keep the 1v1 exciting, not that I have any problem with it. I just want to see more richness to what we already have.

My dreams still hold out for a FFGs Venator Class Star Destroyer.

It may be a Prequel ship, but its my fav starship in the franchise. (braces for incoming prequel hate)

If we get a Venator, it should get a squadron value of 6.

Or sticking the the rules, Squadron value of 4, but gets 2 special slots exclusively for 2 extended hanger bays xD

Yikes xD

Prequels were very good imo, just creepy Anakin had to poisen the story. :P

The Prequels are fantastic from a Worldbuilding perspective. Currently reading "The Art of Episode 3" and its amazing what amount of creativity went into that movie. You can tell even without that book from the seven clone wars locations shown in the movie and the insane amount of vehicles, ships, designs etc that they had A LOT of ideas and thats why i love the prequels. Tons of creative ideas, not only 3 realworld-like locations as in Ep7 you know... call me an escapist but i love that stuff. Same reason why i enjoyed Avatar so much even if the story is nothing new. Guess the reason why people dont like the prequels is more from a character-driven point of view, while the ones that enjoy them do more so for the worldbuilding and visual appeal. There are just tons of good character-driven stories out there but what makes a story believable and "feel alive (at least to me) is the world that is build around it. See Lord of the Rings, Game of Thrones, Harry Potter etc. Great Storywriters usually have a insane amount of worldbuilding, at least in the "saga type" kind of stories. Lucas clearly has some problems of advising actors to deliver emotion and plot without exposition but **** he's a great story- and worldbuilder.

One thing i noticed while reading the Making of books and stuff like that is that he had all those character motives quite fleshed out like Padme beeing forced into political and public life from a young age on, no room for a privat life, having a sister that has kids, etc. Or Dookus background, Grievous backstory. You know, all that kind of stuff that makes the characters actions and decisions comprehensible and believable. He just fails at giving the audience enough of it. Im sure in his understanding of the saga (which he fails a little to convey to the audience) the story makes much more sense. It still does to me, because i like reading into that background stuff but i get the issue some people have with it.

Sorry for the prequel discussion again, i just like talking about them, I'll be quiet now :D

I would go squadron value of 5, but otherwise an Imperial Assault Frigate, the more I think about it. A true multi-role ship, that pushes a crapton of squadrons.

This honestly bothers me zero because of the fact that i just think the bridge design of the Venator is absolutely brilliant. Having one bridge for helm and shipboard operations and one for starfighter command prevents confusion and makes for a more efficient ship.

There's still some ship in Star Wars Rebellion that didn't came wet and I would really like to see those :

Reb's : Liberator Cruiser, Dauntless Cruiser, Corellian Gunship, CC-7700, CC-9600, Assault Frigate Mk1, Bulk Transport and Bulkwark Battlecruiser.

Imps : Lancer Frigate, Carrack Ligth Cruiser, Falk-Class Escort Carrier, Strike Cruiser, Assault Transport and finally SSD.

Both side : Alliance and Imperial's Dreadnaught.

The liberator & the dauntless I think would be great as priority additions. As much as I like the rebel interdictor I’m not sure it should be included for balance/uniqueness factors.

I’ve never liked the Assault transport (or the equivalent rebel CC) but now with the expansion of raiding/boarding, I think they could find a niche home.

Strike cruiser I’ve always hated. Ugly ship.

Sadly tho, I doubt we would ever see these. If they are not featured in a show/movie, current FFG policy seems to be excluding the old EU.

Well 2 outta 3 of the last X-Wing wave expansions have mostly been Legends content am I wrong?

Oh how I loved this game.

I had it on my old computer and played so many hours on it, but it was not working on my new computer (Windows 10)... So I just bought it five minutes ago on Steam.

It's compatible with Windows 10 !!!

So this will help me between each of my Armada games :)

So, what is the odds we see a Clone Wars related wave coming? Be it either clone wars ships or new factions entirely?

I'd say less then them doing New Trilogy stuff. There are a few Episode 8 ships I think they would do before Clone Wars and I think it is unlikely we will see those either.

I know I've posted before about Tector and wingless Liberty in wave 8 but those two were really only my hopes. I still think SSD is coming somehow in 2018. As for wave 8, my best real guess is Braha'tok and ???

I don't really think they can justify another ISD reskin right now.

I know. I just feel the farther into waves we get, the less likely FFG will draw from the original trilogy.

Well the problem with the new trilogy is the scale issue. Unless the rescale the game entirely I find it hard to believe we will be seeing multiple ships larger than an ISD soon (Resurgent, Raddus, etc.)

I still play...my buddy was the inventor and then sold it to Lucasarts and this is what they eventually came out with.

Is the Tector an actual model? Or just a weird shot in the movie that looks like a ‘different’ model?

Nevertheless, I can’t really think of anything more uninteresting than another slightly different ISD and an existing model without wings.

If another version of an existing model really had to happen, I’d favour a true scale Home One.

As much as I don’t want Ep7 stuff mixing with Armada like in Xwing I imagine it’s either this stuff coming soon. Or more stuff from Rebels or the Solo movie. Can’t see clone wars happening.

How about the cheramic white from R1? We could use a proper isd1. There are at least 76 isd types, and possibly a million more!
