My point was that they watch for forum content like hawks, but can't update that forum on these mysterious circumstances that keep delaying their product.

They dont watch the forums like hawks. There is a significant delay between comments being flagged by a user and mod action. You can post whatever you want on a quiet thread as no one reads it to flag it.

Ah, well. I remove the credit I gave them. They apparently care as little for the forums as they do for armada...

Can asmodee come in and crack some heads at ffg and fire a few people and replace them with a group that can get product out in a timely fashion?

I know for a fact Michael Gernes reads the forums. How? Because I've seen him reading them. Before the forums were changed, you used to be able to see who was reading the thread and I've seen multiple FFG tags in those. Also, you can just click on their name and it will tell you what they are doing. You can even tag him in a post.

Somebody should write a creepy app to watch for when any FFG_____ is reading our forum.

Or better yet, to compare time spent by them across the different games' forums. :)

The collection books were because major parts of the game changed so drastically that most of the previous army books literally wouldn't work. So instead of forcing everyone to go buy a hastily scrapped together book for their individual force that would immediately become obsolete, they released collections that detailed every legal unit available to the detailed armies. Including several of their collectible Forge World units and even entire factions that hasn't previously been acknowledged as legitimate forces for regular play. The entire game, including previously ignored forces, was rebalanced to a new minimum baseline.

For most people, they only needed to buy one collection book to wait until they got a proper release. This was a major feat given that after the correction release there were something like 30+ factions of individual forces.

it was needed because there was a HUGE jump from 7th to 8th, but it was about the same size as from 2nd to 3rd. the 3rd edition book included everything in it, they forced people to buy (up to) 4 books to get the same this time. That's why GW is the king of terrible companies.

Lol although there were some truly awesome mess up's with 3rd edition. My favorite was that the ork codex, when it was released, literally had NONE of the weapons they fielded in it. you had to go back to the core rule book to find them. pretty epic.

He has been on the past few days. Gets on about 12 PM EST. I'm sure all the buzz kill over wave 7 has drawn his attention. Now that I have a pattern, I need to document it or else Gink will lose all respect for me.

Too late for that.

Ergh. I hate those empty ‘responses’ that say nothing. It would be better to actually say nothing.

Eh. We get pretty mad when they say nothing. There could be any number of reasosn why they cannot disclose specifics.

I've just gave the FFG Twitter a piece of my mind, in the most respectful tone, of course. When I get to my desk at home I'll link it, but it basically can be summed up to "dudes, please don't miss out by not engaging with this wonderful community"

EDIT: aforementioned thread

There are actually a lot of good reasons to not offer specifics, but the most important is this: if they want to offer specifics, they'd better be correct. And if they are somehow wrong, it had better be an error on the "better than expected" side of the equation. Nobody is going to be mad if Wave 7 drops before New Year's, but people would be very concerned if we were told "before President's Day" but it didn't drop until March. Not unless there was an extremely good reason anyway.

My birthdays feb 24th........

You now have a deadline FFG.

Pfft. My birthday's January 11th. It's all about me :D

Either date is fine with me, but sooner is always better :)

I'll admit that i am disappointed. They need to do a better job of communications with the community at large. Still it could be worse. I'm also a RPG gamer, and FFG still isn't even close to the disappointment i've experienced with Palladium books... :shaking head:

Isn't Palladium the company with the 3+ years overdue Robotech? Yeah, I wonder how they stay in business.

Yep. They'll announce products and take years and YEARS to finally release them, or announce something and cancel it without saying a word.

while "could be worse" is true, "could be worse" is not a valid excuse.

^This. Just because other companies disregard their playerbase or just because other companies are more behind schedule they shouldn't ignore Armada community as a whole. Or if they had enough of Armada they should say so and I'll start buying ships from Mel :P

Time to side with FFG (but only a bit): It might be the case that it really is not their fault. It seems strange that they push so hard to release two X-Wing waves till holidays, but delay Armada. Because both games are painted space ship miniatures, they compete for production capacities. If we take a look at the X-Wing wave that was rushed in order to get it out before Christmas, we will discover that it is "The Last Jedi" wave. Hence, maybe to blame is the mouse who demanded to release TLJ content before Christmas and this made FFG to postpone Armada.

Of course this is pure speculation.

And for today I am done with defending FFG. I will soon jump them again in the fun disappointment contest thread :D

While the delay may not be their fault, their lack of communication with their customers certainly is. I'm disappointed that we won't have the new wave for Christmas but not angry over it. I am kind of p***** off at them for not making some kind of official announcement on here, for not answering questions from the last wave (and even before that), the lack of articles, and just for seemingly ignoring us in general except when they have their hand out to take our money. I love Armada and I think it's THE best game out there. I hope to be playing it years after if/when they quit making it. I don't think it's too much to ask of them to use their own direct line of communication to keep us informed rather than an occasional vague Twitter response. If I can complain about the President choosing to address the nation via tweets then I can complain about FFG doing it too.

Funnily my local store owner says they will be available after Christmas.

Well, that would be technically correct.

But to the issue: I'm one of those who is not all that bothered; maybe relieved, even.

But that has more to do with my personal situation. To make ends meet, I've had to pick up a second job, while my first job surprised me with more work than I had expected. Now, I'm struggling to keep my head above water. So, my time for Armada has slowed down to nearly nothing.

Still: I have a CC match later today. Hooray!

Of course, that says nothing about how FFG should be managing their game. If the people are upset, they're not doing a very good job.

If I had any more likes to give, I would. But alas, all the funny stuff going on recently means I've given them all.

I was out of likes by somewhere around 7 this morning :)
