Cap.Jonus and his Aggressors

By Malabor, in X-Wing Squad Lists

I'm thinking of taking this list to the store league tourney tonight. I'm not solid on Jonus' ept yet. My thoughts are more re-rolls to get the hits in with the TLTs, the missiles, etc. Swarm Tactics on Kestal lets me "double tap" with the two aggresors, one right after the other and then Jonus can play cleanup. Whatcha' think?

Capt.Jonus (34)

G.chips, deadeye, extra munitions, Cruise, xx-23, proton bombs

Double Edge (29)

LWF, trick shot, TLT, Unguided

Lt. Kestal (35)

LWF, TLT, Cruise, swarm tactics

1) If you're using Jonus, I'd advise capitalizing on his ability as much as possible. TLT does that beautifully. Unguided and Cruise, not so much. Concussions would be a nice choice, but I'd go with Clusters. In which case, Deadeye is a nice choice on the both of them, though cases could be easily made for other EPTs based on your play style. Expertise coupled with TLT, Cluster Missiles, and Jonus rerolls would be absolutely brutal.

2) The Cpt. is a good build, but I might suggest using him more as support. LWF would keep him around longer, Shuttle title and rebel captive could keep him alive a lot longer, Fleet Officer would boost the overall action economy. However, if you wanted to keep some offense, I'd advise LWF, Unguided Rockets, choice of EPT (not Deadeye, maybe Sat Salvo!)

it is a bit of a toss-up between the chimps and LWF on Jonus. I may play a few games with both and see how it goes. I was also thinking of throwing Determination on him to Kylo proof him, since it's so popular these days. I'd like to keep him somewhat offensive if possible, but still throw down support with his ability. :)

I really think LWF should win out there tbh. Determination is an excellent choice to counter Kylo, you're right there! But if you want to keep him offensive, Sat. Salvo/Unguided would be endlessly frustrating for your opponent.

Soooo...played through a game last night. Didn't get a single munition off with Jonus (aside from 1 proton bomb). It looked cool on the sideboard, but as far as effectiveness goes...not so much. I'm thinking you're right to build him up as a support ship. LWF is definitely going on there, as well as maybe System's Officer and maaaaybe Kylo? I'd like to slap a rebel captive on there if I can track one down (no proxy's allowed!) Thinking of swapping out DoubleEdge with a Sienar specialist to get the early move and then bump him up with Swarm Tactics for the attack.

I'm a huge fan of Double Edge, I wouldn't rule him out too quickly. Rebel captive would be excellent to keep him around. Without an easy source of crits, I would probably not use Kylo. However, there are many useful crew. Systems, Fleet officers, perhaps

Yeah, I like DoubleEdge as well. I'll dig around and see what kind of crew I can load the shuttle up with to make the difference. It was REALLY nice having those re-rolls last night putting damage out with those TLT's. And managed a 5 dice Cruise with Kestal 2nd turn.
