Its a completely dead card turn one, conveniently the turn that decides the favor... that is a huge risk for drawing it turn one, now HAVEING to get the favor turn one, all the while trying to accomplish this with a dead card in hand that wont help you actually win the favor in the first place. And if you fail it becomes a dead card AGAIN, for another turn.
Phoenix will want it because they can buy a one drop, bow the stronghold and get it practically always, but other clans... I cant see them as eager. This is a worse counter in scorpion, a worst counter in crane and the risk is really high for other clans, I cant stress enough how potentially terrible a dead card turn one can be. I think Phoenix will experiment with it, but I don't even think they will run 3 ofs.
While I believe that some will find ways to abuse it, it wont be as widely played as people want it to be. Maybe there will be a neutral card that says, "Take the Imperial Favor" or something? Who really knows.
Spoiler: Censure. Worst card so far?
I guess we can say goodbye to 2+ cost events.
The sad part is...Crane are probably going to be the ones who can easily claim the Imperial favour. So anyone can use it, but really few will be able to consistently pull it off.

This Event canceller will allow a number of Clans a tool that will work to offset the severe advantage of 6 Event cancelling abilities of say Crane and Scorpion. These 2 Clans will still be the premiere Clans that can ward off Events left and right, but now the remaining 5 Clans will have something to push back with.
There is no other way to combat the plethora of (incredible!) Events that most Clans have, even more so with Crane and Scorpion. This card attempts to balance the equation a bit and allow for some ‘balance.’
This card is severely needed in most decks.

I actually like this card and wanted a neutral cancel effect.
The water ring has just gotten a lot more important as well. Especially with all these other cards that require the favor.

I'm planning to try 3 of them, especially since we're Keeper of Water now. If our opponent doesn't manage to deny us the Ring of Water, I don't really see how we could not earn the Favor, unless he's using even more cards and effects which by itself would also be a win.
I don't see a problem with the card except that now Scorp/Crane can have 9 cancels on board now.
The effect itself is fine given its limited by the favor.
Lovely topic. Full of froth.
It is open to all clans, right. It allows you to cancel events out of crane or scorpion. Right. But consider the fact that it reinforces the denial on those clans. With this card in the pool, everytime we face those two clans, we will have to expect a cancellation is in their hands.
If they pack 6-9 of cancellation cards then that is less cards that can reinforce their own deck objectives. IF (and its a big if) every clan decides to pack their fate decks with multiple 3-4 cost killer fate actions then that might become a viable meta deck. If any deck decides to not bother and instead uses fate chars, 0 cast attachments then that deck will have an advantage as the opposing player either wastes cancel cards on 0 cost attachments or holds them for an event that does not exist.
On the other hand I think you need to meet

who thinks it sucks and will never get used. Perhaps some middle ground exsits.
Wow meta options springing up and half the frothing player base thinks it spells the end for their super cost cards wherease the other half thinks it is super trash and never gets played. Welcome to a competitive card game!

I don't think it sucks, and specifically said it WILL be used by some clans, just not all clans. I'm the middle ground here lol.

I don't expect to see Crane or Scorpion running more then4-5 cancels ever, especially with attachments being so good at the moment.
At worst this just pushes people into playing characters and attachments, things that these counters cannot stop and thus punish any deck that has almost of quarter of its cards being pure reactionary.
I'm going to use 2 copies in my Crab ideck. See how it goes.
I'm just thinking with Kisada, cancel...cancel...lol
Edited by SlackerHackerAs a Phoenix player- This card is amazing! 3x copies auto include!
I doubt seriously this will be all that good in Crab. I'll give it a shot, but I'm not usually winning Imperial Favor consistently and I don't have the option really to leave a high glory guy standing to ensure I can grab the favor like some clans do currently.
I like the card because it's another card who's existence alone will change how people play. Meta warping cards are great when they make players think.
I really like the design of this card. Something like this could easily have made 2+ cost events unplayable. Instead, it makes it very clear that holding the favor means you get to play expensive events, and that you're running a risk if you play events against someone that has favor. It's *very* easy to track and mentally digest. It's a really good reason to try and contest the favor, too. A neutral cancel card was pretty much necessary and inevitable, so I'm glad they went with one that works well, rather than potentially crippling every event ever printed. I mean, this card hurts stuff like Fate Worse than Death and Five Fires, but if you need to play those effects, you make an effort to take the imperial favor. They don't become dead cards, you just play around this one.
I might be a little biased, though, because it's incredibly solid for Phoenix specifically. It's a bit unfortunate that taking imperial favor becomes harder when you have expensive events in your hand (due to having fewer cards that are appropriate at the moment) so this helps snowballing.

But then again, the Spider Stronghold will be able to cancel an Event by bowing, so you shouldn’t worry much with this topic.
What makes me laugh is how 1 dimensional some people's views are. If a card doesn't seem to work just right in their clan's deck of choice, it is heralded as "a totally crap card". I am a Crab player and so this card probably won't make the cut into my deck but I can still see its value in other clan decks. Overall, I think it is a pretty solid choice in the right deck. The cost is ridiculous and so echo a previous reply that I would have expected (and still would be happy with) a 1 fate cost to play so for zero, it is bonkers.
The fact that you have to get the favor completely balances the card out. Yes, it might not be fun to get a card canceled, but it also isn't fun to get a character assassinated.
Many of these Imperial favor cards will help to make that step actually mean something.
Much like other cards, players will have to adjust to new cards and strategies.
I am going to pitch in for the crowd that says the card is lovely, for aforementioned reasons.

This is my first LCG since LotR and that was cooperative. So I am kind of worried if we'll continue to see similar heated discussions with every cycle and deluxe expansion coming in the next years. It seems to me that many players don't want to adjust to new cards and strategies, but in fact outright fear or hate when that happens. The very first expansion hasn't even hit the shelves yet (unless you live in Australia) and there's already so much negativity just because one upcoming card threatens to change the infantile status quo.

You will. It is the nature of competitive card games. If X card doesn't make my life easier or if it makes other people's decks work better, then it's CRAP! lol
It makes Backhanded Compliment seem like even less of a big deal.

Even months before the game came out people were negative towards possible things. The very possibility of Spider being around led to constant threads and posts.
Forums are places where people go to shout so we have to learn to live with it. It happens in other card games, board games, miniature games, and pretty much everything else.
