Jade Tetsubo

By llamaman88, in Legend of the Five Rings: The Card Game

Anyone know where I can find just the art for this card? It's soo good.

The artist is Lukas Banas I suggest a google search would be a good start.

Here's a link to his deviant art.

Great art for a card that I can't see myself using. It's one of the few Crab cards that feels distinctly overcosted or underpowered to me. The ability on it has a delayed payoff, and the fact that it returns the fate to your opponent's pool means it might actually enable them to play a card immediately that they couldn't have afforded otherwise.

A little too complicated, but the dream is my opponent stacks a lot of Fate, I give the character the Phoenix attachment that if fate is removed from it the fate goes to me instead, then I whack them upside the head with the tetsubo.

Embrace the Void? Yeah, that would be a fun combo. I almost never see anyone put more than 2 fate on a character, though. If I was going to try to do that combo for ***** and giggles, I'd probably do it as Phoenix splashing Crab, not the other way around. Crab just doesn't have the shugenja characters to support a Phoenix splash.

Except that the reaction can only trigger once, so you will only steal one fate.

Jade tetsubo returns all fate to the owner's pool. Embrace the Void interrupts and instead sends all that fate to your own pool. It's not limited to interrupting 1 of the fate, it just is limited to activating once, which is why a ability like tetsubo's which removes all the fate from the character makes it a good combo.

My bad. I didn't read the card closely.

I haven’t tried it yet, but I’ve thought about a Crab splash in Dragon to give the Tetsubo to Raigotso. With just that he’s be at 6 MIL — use the Tetsubo to remove fate, then duel them to remove them.

Who is Raigotso? I can't find the card you're talking about. Did you misspell something?

Think he meant Mirumoto Raitsugu, the Dragon duelist from the core set.

Yes, sorry about that. Phone was fighting with my bad memory. That’s exactly who I was talking about. Raitsugu is quite good at dueling away characters with no fate - the Tetsubo would extend his reach. The risk is your opponent might be able to afford that Ancestral Daisho after you clear the fate.

Ah, yeah, I see the combo now. That looks pretty hilarious and fun. If either of the two pieces was cheaper, I'd be much more tempted to try it.

Daimyo's Favor

Raitsugu is worth every Fate —great way to get rid of opposing characters. The Tesubo just accelerates that.

I have a question about Jade Tetsubo.

If the character has Jade Tetsubo attached and that character gets bowed, can they still bow the Jade Tetsubo to target a character.

If they do, do they still count their strength as normal even though it contributes no skill to the conflict. Does that mean they count no skill at conflict resolution or does it mean they count no skill on the character at all?

See my dilemma?

Characters and attachments bow independently of each other, so yes if the character is bowed, jade tetsubo would still be ready and can be used. The character's skill is still compared as normal for using the tetsubo's ability, even though its skill won't be counted towards resolving the conflict itself.
