Void for non-humans ?

By Lord of the Seal, in Legend of the Five Rings Roleplaying Game Beta

Greetings from the Sands, Evil-Smelling Brother-in-Law of a Camel!

In the NPC section of the beta all NPC even non-human creatures are stated with some Void.

If feels strange to me because Void was always described as something intrinsically human.

Your thoughts are welcome.

See you in the Sands.

I'd even go further and say at the risk of offending that sand dweller that void is only intrinsically Rokugani. Gaijin have none. They have the stat but can't spend void points.

But now with the new take FFG has on void and void points...

I have a friend, Jim, he used to spend Void. So I asked Jim, How's void. But he said Void isn't void anymore...

Sad.

#makevoidgreatagain.

If they can't spend the points, would that make Gaijin... Puts on sunglasses ... Null & Void?

It's not the same thing at all as it was in Old5R. Even Momoku have access to void in this edition.

Mechanically, I can understand why. Thematically...

That's maybe a result of FFG anti discriminatory policies.

No Banzaï, not using the word Eta and Void for everyone. ?

My gaming group is brainstorming an extensive revision of the Beta. One of our ideas is to have a "Sixth Ring" called Corruption that encompasses all the weird supernatural influences on one's character, be it the Taint or being a legit spirit.

There, have your cake and eat it too. Void can be an inherently human thing while Corruption can work for everyone else like oni and various monsters.

Why not wait to do a revision of the full rules when they release? That's basically what I'm waiting for.

We are brewing rules for the Beta and not for the finished game.
