I noticed something interesting about GChips

By Sparklelord, in X-Wing

On the Imperial roster, the list of small base ships that can use GChips to generate a crit result is:

-TIE Defenders

... that's it, that's just something interesting, a moment where I said, "wait a minute, really?" as I was thinking about ordnance lists.

Anyone else have any of these moments they'd like to share?

That is kinda crappy eh? Scum have no 4 atk die ships.

Scum NEED no 4 atk die ships! :)

But that is no fun at all, I know the Tie Phantom isn't use much but the Ghost still is and do people not use the Upsilon?

Casually yeah, there’s all sorts of fun with major stridan.

Competitively, no, not even Kylo pilot.

Kylo won some store champs but he's not quite there really. Needs a killer imp crew to elevate the Upsilon.

They just need to pick some random Imp officers and make them into crew.

That's true! And ... odd! Exactly the sort of thing I was looking for.

Fenn and Talonbane behave like 4 die ships at Range 1 only, and Zuckuss is a worse-than-typical 4 die attacker, but yeah there's no native 4 in Scum.

Black Sun Ace (25) x 4

Kihraxz Fighter (23), Vaksai (0), Veteran Instincts (0), Cruise Missiles (2), Guidance Chips (0)

Elevate the Upsilon, yeah, she would need Or SLAM or the ability to boost using a hard one turn on the big, black Cow...she needs something to help her maneuver....I don't even own one as my wife gifted mine away; I bought it the day it arrived at my LGS; and poof! My brother in law's birthday snuck up on us and she's gone. But he hasn't faired to well with her, save Epic games with Hux.

If the Punisher had 2 defense dice, the Empire would have exactly as many 2 agility small base ships as they have small base 3 agi ships: 7 and 7. As it stands, the poor Punisher has the dubious distinction of being the Empire's only 1 agi small base ship. The Rebels have six 1 agi ships and six 2 agi ships, with just three having 3 agi, again not counting big bases. Scum have four 1 agi small bases and four with 2 agi, but again just three with 3 agi.

Overall, 2 agi small ships are the most common, followed by 3 agi, and finally 1 agi: 16, 13, 11

What does this mean??? Probably nothing at all, especially since the counts will change with the next revealed wave, but it's funny how the Empire is currently the only faction where all the counts are different. I would have expected that more from Scum. A perfect 7 and 7 for the Empire would fit their uniformed theme, but I guess the Punisher needed some attribute to be a downgrade compared to the Bomber. It's also funny but not at all surprising that the Empire has a reversed flow when it comes to the proportion of 1 agi vs 3 agi.

Imperials have no large base ships that can native barrel roll or boost.

Edit: Here is hoping for a TIE Reaper that has its own Adaptive Ailerons or BR.

Yeah, but Scum has Fearlessness... we don't need that on a 4 attack ship... plus Scum pilots already have a lot of offensive abilities. Scum doesn't lack offense in any way, they rarely have problem pushing damage through.

Random?

All they need to do is sit down a watch a season of Rebels. . .

Someone on the design team is clearly a fan of, at the very least, a certain Mandalorian from the show. Maybe we'll see more Rebels characters later.

Incorrect, Imp Firespray.

I've noticed this one before.

Pretty much all missile-toting Imperial ships also need their mod slot for another upgrade, just for that ship to be reliably usable (LWF, Autothrusters, Adv SLAM on Gunboat, Long Range Sensors).

Imperials are forced to make a decision when Scum ships dont :(

I don't know if this is commonly known or not but I only just noticed that the Aggressor has more natural green maneuvers than any other ship.

Well, the call was for some Imperial officers, so more Rebels ain't helpful.

Now, if they wanted to finally give some extra Mandalorian help to the Imperials, that would be nice:

Speaking of which....

The only Large Base ships that have the native Barrel Roll action have PWTs.

True, which is kinda game breaking at times. All PWT should go to Mobile Arc

Decimator title inbound, probably in a Heroes of the Resistance style pack:

"Your action bar gains the <barrel roll> icon"

Do you think it would make sense for a Decimator to barrel roll?
