Format for Large Team Tournament Event

By atkrull, in X-Wing

Just wanted to get some outside opinions on this format I am thinking on tweaking for a large event tournament.

Teams of 3 players, Each team has 1 empire, rebel and scum list for a standard 100-6 format.

Instead of players paired up in swiss, teams will be paired up throughout the swiss rounds.

Teams paired together for the round layout out each of their 3 lists. Each team then selects on a dial which list they want to go against in the first, second then third match. Those lists are paired against each other and the teams play the 3 games which equal 1 round.

Calculate wins & MOV and then move on to the next round.

Top 4 cut?

Make sense?

Mostly, but you should take a look at the format for UK Team Championships, it's pretty tried and tested at this stage. The only major detail that's different is how the matchups are selected - the team with the highest cumulative bid across their three lists gets the choice of whether to pick first or not - if they do, they pick the first matchup, and their opponents pick the other two, or vice versa.

If each team is 3 players, you're looking at a lot of teams (and subsequently, players) to have enough for a cut.

I'm not sure I like the fact that one team gets to pick the best match up first.

I Agree

You can look how ETC is being organized and just copy it (just downgrade from 6 to 3 players per team)

That's what the team bid is for. The team that spent fewer points gets to pick.
