I’m wondering what use PS 9 has in the current Meta. With Imperial Alpha at PS 11 and Nym with VI at PS 10, is there a point to take PS 9 at all, or if so to take the bid? Who are you trying to go before at PS 9 these days?
PS 9 or Nein?
Nein!
Poe and maybe Fenn, but it's not exactly crowded. I can't see the VI Imp alpha stopping using VI, which means that most if not all PS9s are in trouble if they meet it, which heavily suppresses their use, not to mention that Nym with Harpoons is also a thing.
I was hoping the PS race was goign to cool and non-VI PS9s would be useful again, but I'm not seeing it right now.
Solution to Imp Alpha PS11: Triple Reinforced Deflector Upsilons or Quad RD Lambdas.

The solution to it is to have the enemy behind you, killing you at their leisure?
Who knew!

This is what I expected: a clever joke about going PS9+ or else bringing a Snapshot + R3A2 Nien Nunb to punish all of those PS9+ aces. That being said, as fun as SS NN is, it's not competitive-level because SS Nien pretty much auto-loses to non-aces, like a Ghost, Dash, Biggslow, Quad Wookies, etc. ...
What exactly is SS Nien Numb has he gone fascist?
9 helps against Miranda. That's about it.

And Dash. Albeit, 8 does that just as well.
Oh yeah, Dengar will probably still be around, though he's often seen at 11 now too.

Nunb. NUNB. N-U-N-B.
Ten Numb. Nien Nunb. They aren't related.

Some people just don't know their Sullustans.

Well thanks for the spelling correction but what about my question. Is he a Nazi or what?

PS9 also helps against Whisper, but she’s pretty dead in today’s meta anyway.
Doch!
Oh!

No.
He is using Snap Shot in combination with R3-A2.

Thank you so much for being helpful.

As long as high PS missiles can torch a critical ship in the opening salvo easily, and Kylo Ren delivering blinded pilot hits, I suspect it'll continue. Cruise Missiles are not going away...
But no...there is no specific 'point' to PS9. Beating Miranda Doni is valuable, but most other targets you see are PS7 or less, or PS10+. PS9 is a long way from 'bad' it's not a garuantee of "I go last" anymore the way it once was.
However:
- It is generally a case that you'll go last relative to anyone with the action economy to be called an arc dodger. PS10 and PS11 missile boats (aside from Vader) get that PS by taking Veteran Instincts rather than Push The Limit, Intensity, or any equivalent thereof. Meaning that whilst they can get their lock and fire first, they don't have the maneuverability to do silly stuff at said Pilot Skill.
- The problem is being able to cover enough ground to matter - especially where turrets remain a common thing. I wonder if PS9 Major Vynder might become a thing for this reason - chained speed 3 moves that you can define at PS9 is pretty impressive.
the only PS Nein! is Mux (for your opponent)
PS 9 is relevant as long as Miranda exists (also and especially Dash, who is next to impossible to shoot at with lower ps). You also ps tie with Dengar
It depends on your local meta. The more people aim for PS10 or 11, the more useless PS9 becomes... which means you can focus upgrades on making PS7 more efficient or go even lower with pilots that don't care as much about arcs, like Ventress.

This. I'm not seeing it much in our area or at the last few local events I've been to (although I have no doubt PS10+ is popular in many places), but PS9 is still good where most lists prefer to use PTL, Expertise, Intensity, etc on their aces.

Yup. But since "Meta" is hot to discuss about apperantly, much of the current top 20 lists are not exclusively manned by PS9+ pilots, so 9 still goes before quite some stuff. Sure, it can change, but let's not forget that the 9ers also tend to have some very nice pilot abilities, and there are a lot of other useful EPTs you can stick on a pilot other than VI.
Basically, there's PS spam and then there is preemptive paranoia of PS spam. Your local meta defines which is which.
Edited by DampfGeckoPS 10/11 Poe with a focus and another action will soon be a thing too. I still like PS9, as there are still a few 7s and 8s around (Miranda, Dash, Rey, Norra, Corran, OL) and there are other PS9s if you have initiative. But I don't think taking a ship soley for PS9 is as important as it once was, unless you fear your lower PS will die too easily.
