Four figures with a single blow!

By ryanjamal, in Imperial Assault Skirmish

With apologies to @Brigadierblu, I had to share the following encounter from this past weekend’s store tourney. @Brigadierblu and I were both 2-0 and so we met in the finale. He was running an AT-DP, Palp, Riots, rSentries, rOfficer, and eJets list. I was trying out a Heroic Effort list, with Han, Drokkatta, Ahsoka, Jarrod, Gideon, C3PO, and Chopper. I was worried, but then Drokkatta wrought devastation on a third of his army in a single activation.

It was a thing of beauty.

We were doing the crates mission on Jabba’s map (which I was excited about after the Week 1 Skirmish article discussion). I was on the red side, and seeing an AT-DP staring me down on the opposite side of the map, I was not opening my door. I moved down into the center room, while @Brigadierblu moved his AT-DP out in the main room and moved his Riots and droids toward the center room.

For reference, I’ll use this awesome image from @Bitterman's post in the Week 1 Skirmish article.

He moved his eRiots into positions B and D. I then went with Han and double moved him up to the bottom right space in between Jabba’s statue and the two-space wall (giving him LoS to the eRiot in space B for his end-of-round attack). Earlier, I had bumped Ahsoka forward two spaces with Hera and Chopper, so with my last activation she was able to force leap next to the eRiot on D and deal 5 damage to him (with a focused attack). At the end of round, I dealt 6 to the eRiot on B with Han’s focused attack (I think forcing a card discard for an extra block with Zillo).

I lucked out and was able to keep initiative for the start of round two. Oh man, I had plans. :-)

I moved up with Chopper and rammed the eRiot on D, dealing one damage and moving him horizontally adjacent to the eRiot on B. Then I played Strength in Numbers and went with Drokkatta.

This is where Drokkatta shines. I moved her up to place a rubble token that killed both eRiots and dealt a damage to an officer (who was now adjacent to both eRiots thanks to Chopper’s ram). With her attack I one-shotted a Sentry droid, then used the new Heavy Weapons card to deal the final two damage to the officer. Four figures (including a whole deployment of reinforceable eRiots) with a single activation.

This of course points to the power of initiative, but also to how potent Drokkatta can be in the right situation. She can just wreck things :-)

Happy gaming!

Awesome... and nice to see some of the talk in action! :)

Thanks for the write-up! I think more people should share some highlights from their games just as you did. Another friend said he felt that Drokkatta was awesome. Now I'm curious. I'll definitely have to give her a try.

Dooooo it! She is such a devastating closer!

It was a pretty spectacular defeat on my end, I think I only ended up with 3 points for tempting Chopper to death. @ryanjamal was also able to stay out of sight from my atdp for just about the entire match. ?

The only questionable action was whether Drokatta’s “Shrapnel” ability allows for the target to also take the 1 damage. RAW it seems like it does, but thematically I would think it wouldn’t, considering blast doesn’t affect the target.

Added chopper death

where did you have han that he had line of sight to B? That's the part I missed.

Drokatta is easily the best figure out of the new batch excepting Han perhaps. The fact that her ability just happens is pretty devastating. Jarrod isn't as bad as I initially thought, just really weak on health. Han just deals damage after damage especially when focused.

I have not been super impressed with Chewie or Kotun. I think the AtDp got boxed in a corner and probably never got to shine. The new figures just do so much damage I almost feel like all massive vehicles need a health boost to keep them on the table.

He was sitting in the bottom right square in front of Jabba’s statue, on the stairs.

Stupid autocorrect

Ok help me out here. I don't really care one way or the other but where is it stated that Drokkatta is female. Nothing I've seen uses pronouns for the wookie. BTW nice, I'm Drokkatta in our campaign and have been wrecking face.

That is a super great observation! You are right that RAW it would include the figure in the target space!

Shrapnel: Choose one: This attack gains Blast 2, or after this attack resolves, if it did not miss, each figure and object within 2 spaces of the target space suffers 1 damage.

It's a separate effect from Blast, so I don't see why it shouldn't include the figure in the target space as well. I love this Wookie more and more the more I learn about her! :D

Had this discussion with @a1bert over on the discord channel, and he says that yes, the initial target also takes 1 damage.

My god @ryanjamal, wishing I had drokkatta already. Wished I could see this.

About Shrapnel, it is thematic if you think. Blast would affect only the spaces adjacent to the figure's space; shrapnel it's like the explosion from blast fragmenting, so the "shrapnel" would damage all spaces adjacent to the Blast spaces, including the one with the figure.

Probably not, but is it worth considering Targeting Computer on Drokkatta for the re-roll to maximize her attacks? Not sure its as needed with only 1 surge.

If ya got the spare point sure. Don't forget about Shrapnel which worst case scenario is one damage extra on the target. So technically two surge abilities.
