Cake is baked, just needs icing

By Coldhands, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

Hi all,

Lately Ive been woking on this list:

Faction: Rebel Alliance
Points: 368/400

Commander: General Dodonna

Assault Objective: Precision Strike
Defense Objective: Fighter Ambush
Navigation Objective: Superior Positions

Nebulon-B Escort Frigate (57 points)
- Yavaris ( 5 points)
- Flight Commander ( 3 points)
- Fighter Coordination Team ( 3 points)
= 68 total ship cost

GR-75 Medium Transports (18 points)
- Comms Net ( 2 points)
= 20 total ship cost

GR-75 Medium Transports (18 points)
- Bomber Command Center ( 8 points)
= 26 total ship cost

GR-75 Medium Transports (18 points)
- Bright Hope ( 2 points)
- Toryn Farr ( 7 points)
- Comms Net ( 2 points)
= 29 total ship cost

[ flagship ] Assault Frigate Mark II B (72 points)
- General Dodonna ( 20 points)
- Adar Tallon ( 10 points)
- Flight Controllers ( 6 points)
- Expanded Hangar Bay ( 5 points)
- Electronic Countermeasures ( 7 points)
= 120 total ship cost

1 Ten Numb ( 19 points)
1 Dagger Squadron ( 15 points)
1 Wedge Antilles ( 19 points)
1 Norra Wexley ( 17 points)
1 Jan Ors ( 19 points)
1 "Dutch" Vander ( 16 points)

32 Points left, 29 can go into squads. Looking for best Options to finish It. These things are being considered(but Im Open to ideas):

-Leia to comms net Transport, to be slicers tools safeguard

-squadron wise: 8 would be great, but im ok with 7.

8: Green+gold(Y-w vs Green?)

7: Luke, he is a threat to all ships, works well with dodona(misaligned shields, structural, etc) Ok against squads

Nym

Keyan

What do you Think?

Wedge for Biggs and two Xwings? Seems like a single escort isn’t enough to stop a determine dscreen for even a turn

I'd add Shara and Gold

And MAYBE one B-Wing for Dutch

I would not go for 7
That is one deployment you are giving up.

I would not bring expanded hangar on the B
You pay 5 points for one more activation with flight controllers, thats like 5 points for one dice and the fact that you can activate one more squadron in sync. with the others.
You pay 6 for the flight controllers and that makes those 5 points for the hangar bay kinda expensive.

Edit: was bored, here is my suggestion in full.

Wedge+Dutch is a nasty combo. Dutch can neutralise 3 squads a turn all by himself, which is great. Wedge mops up after him, can roll 7-6-6 Blue die in a Single turn. Taking him down usually takes 5 squadrons.

Shara: Field is full of juicy targets, would you go after her?

3rd b-Wing/keyan: 2 can be pushed by yavaris and Double tapped. To provide the 3rd with the speed It needs to position well has to be provided by adar talon, and we have already many candidates for that: Wedge, Dutch, Ten Numb is great when Triple-tapped.

Hangar bay: I Think It happened many Times: A squadron remained in play on 1 hull left. If you have one more squad to activate, you can finish It. Its not 5 Points for One extra Blue die, but also a lot of opportunities as well. Also, fc boosts Ten numbs chance of rolling a crit by a great margin, Dutch has Better chances to trigger his effect.

Your points on Dutch+Wedge are of course 100% correct. :)

My idea behind bringing one more b-wing is simple: You might already have enough anti-squadron strength in your fleet and I was looking more to bombing with double triggers by yavaris. Three Bs double triggered makes 12 dice.
But I suppose its a meta call.
Last time I brought the duo they performed very well on the squadron killing but I didn't get enough bombing done. (pilot error, so to speak)

I also like Shara, she can just lock down a big group of fighters together with Wedge for a time, while your bombers get down to business.

Also they can be supported with some flak:)

I see why you are suggesting it, I need a 3rd double dice squadron if I make bombing runs with Yavaris. This is why I was eying with gold-squadron or a scurrg.

But Im not sold on Shara for this composition. She is awesome, dont get me wrong, but... she plays a bit differently, to remain PC.

This!

The balance of fighters/bombers is always tricky so it depends on what you're likely to go up against.

having been on the receiving end of Yavaris and basic B-wings before I know how scary they can be, and B-wings aren't terrible against squadrons either. That said, getting hold of a third B-wing squad isn't that easy unless you pick up two Rebel Squdron, so a Gold Squad is a good substitute. But I agree the original list needs more escorts.

Nobody goes after Shara, she is too dangerous for that. She is the predator, not the prey /evilgrin

Agreed:)

Ill add gold squadron and an x-Wing, so three are 3 Double dice squads against ships, keeping 7 Points bid to be able to go second against doompickle style lists. In my area second player wanna be lists started to bid higher than usual, 5-6 Point bids arent rare Just to make sure They go second.

I don't think Adar is a good addition. And you should squeeze in Luke. Also Fighter Ambush is a poor objective for this list.

Disagree on Adar, he for 10 points, you have an extra copy of any squadron apart from the hull part. Also helps a lot to set up a squadron for Yavaris.

Luke is in the consider list, for the moment I am going for the rough dmg output as gold squadron can consistently dish out 2 dmg. Luke has a great synergy with Dodonna, but you still need a bit of a Luck with him.

Fighter ambush: yes, it comes at a cost, but you deploy this fleet in a blob anyway. As soon as you place your first ship, its not hard to figure out where your fleet will be. The rest is pure win for this list.
