NEW AT-RT Sculpt, As Well As Speeder Bike Sculpts

By JackD2204, in Star Wars: Legion

I was recently researching the latest legion figures online, and I noticed that a lot of people seemed to think that the sculpt for the AT-RT was not any different from the core set, and I just wanted to clarify that it is actually a DIFFERENT sculpt. The one that comes in the core set shows the driver, leaning slightly off of the mount, and holding his own blaster rifle, as well as having one arm controlling the walker; while the new sculpt shows the driver with both arms on the walker and the blaster cannon on the walker is different looking too. I can't wait for more expansion figures, and am happy to see that they are using different sculpts than in the core set!

The link doesn't work. Here are the two images we have.

Could be a provided arm-swap.

Since the Weapons swap and all.

Which, if they are basically doing these sprue-like (even detached-sprue) with assembly required... WILL effectively make them the same sculpt... With a few options here and there.

Yes this is correct. Don't assume it is a different sculpt. We already know that it comes with 3 different weapons so it wouldn't be a shock if it came with different riders or other options. I would be somewhat surprised if they made completely different molds for the AT-RT...... much more likely that there would simply be an additional accessory sprue at the most.

Yeah, I'm reserving judgment on this until we see some real pictures of these straight out of the box. Alternate arm/torso/head parts seem like a possibility with this line.

They look like different sculpts to me. The one in the core set has a twist in the drivers torso not present in the expansion pack mini.

Its a flat-twist though. Just a rotation. So again, if its an assembly model, and the upper torso and legs are separated at the waist... Easy to do... Especially if the arm to hold the handle is a little flexible, or there's a little give in the shoulder joints...

As a terminology statement, "Different Scuplt" Really only applies to models that are generally in as few components and parts as possible... Things like the Imperial Assault style of miniatures, where they are presented pretty much (if not entirely) in one piece, where there is only one actual way of putting them together...

In kits with options, they are just options... Rather than different sculpts...

Again, we're not 100% on which way Legion is, and how much assembly Legion may or may not actually require... The more granularity with options, the less "different sculpt" things are... You can have one sculpt built 5 ways to create 5 different model experiences.

Games workshop got very good at that... Most vehicles and walkers in their line are only one sculpt, but even before if you add optional parts, there are multiple ways of putting the **** thing together to make it unique.
