The community here is encouraging the use of the roles. It is part of the game, and part of the hatamoto responsibility/privilege. We are happy to provide that honor to them, and help make each clan more distinct.

In our weekly ladder league we are allowing players to chose any role. Many have said they will stick to the currently assigned OP roles though. Neither are we requiring players stick to a single clan — this is league is about exploring the game as much as possible. Though I think many will stick with a single clan, I expect alliances to shift as new cards become available.

Yes. It's been reinforced since the release tournaments.

In casual play you are allowed to use any role you wish, store tournaments are up to the organizer but higher level tournaments official roles only or none (if you wish). So far everyone i've encountered at my local stores (i play at two different stores) no one has even questioned the use of current roles. As far as pack legality for premier events its 11 days but otherwise street date is legal for games.

For myself I strictly follow the Roles because I tend to go to a lot of tournaments and don't want any complications the day of play.

The group that plays in my area all go by what has been chosen by our Hatamoto's at worlds as all of us feel it is part of the game. That being said, most people playing the game are in it for the fun mechanics and enjoy the game as casual players and can play however they want. I will always go for what the Hatamoto chooses as I enjoy the community part of the game. I am happy playing the Seeker of the Void role as Scorpion as well as playing with people who choose other roles not chosen by their Hatamoto.

We have been playing with the official roles in local tournaments. I don't think the was even a suggestion that we would do it otherwise.

Haven't had a chance to play since the new roles were picked, but I expect

1) most people will switch over ASAP

2) no one will really be too upset if someone is playing the "wrong" role

If I play someone using a non-standard, I'll probably make sure they know they're "doing it wrong" but accommodate whether they fix it or not. If you want to explore an alternate possibility for your clan go nuts, with the knowledge that you can't use that build at official events.
