I mean Justice was choosen, but the story was published rather fast after the Justice/Duty vote.

So I was thinking does a "The Fires of Duty" story exist, but wasn't published because the other story choice was made?

Same goes for the previous story desision.

There's likely at least an outline.

This was already discussed in the previous story decision, and I think the general consensus is yes, they have both stories written before the decision is taken. Maybe not the whole story, but certainly a draft.

In the last decision, I’d even say that both stories could share the same beginning and even middle of the write. I mean, up until the point they said if meishodo was banned or not, all that could have been unchanged and it wouldn’t matter.

Wasn't one of the issues with Old5R that they wrote the stories after the results were in, often several weeks later?

I'd like to assume that the FFG won't repeat that mistake.

The more important question is:

How do we get our hands on the alternate fictions so we can get started on "Rokugan: Black Mirror Edition?"

I'd love a "What if" collection of story branches that didn't happen.

Weeks, months, years

I can almost guarantee they had both stories finished before the decision was made. I can't see Katrina leaving it to the last minute to do a rush job on finishing the selected story. They may not be long, but they still need at least a basic polish and proofread (yes I realize they still missed a couple errors).

I loved the 1000 years of darkness set from Old5R. The short fictions they had in there were awesome. I wouldn't expect it anytime soon, but I too would love to see a collection of the alternate endings and stories.

I have to think about "the road not taken". But yeah I would love to see the alternate fictions as well.
