Has anyone made this in vassal? I am interested in learning before buying models and am in an area without a lot of players.
vassal?
It should have happened by now. I'm guessing that one thing keeping people back from making a Vassal mod is the painting aspect. 1) People are soending tome painting, so no time for a mod. 2) People want to play with their beautifully-painted armies, so there's liitle desire to push pixels around a screen.
Your best bet is table top simulator. Not sure how far along it is though.

That is pay to play, no?
Honestly I'd really like to get vassal going. For Armada that created a good community of players that had no hope of ever getting together in person save at premier events. It helped to advance the game in my opinion.
On the downside last I looked at doing something with Vassal I found it fair obscure to create a mod.

I think it's pay to buy TTS once. Usually goes on sale for $10 periodically?

Yes, but wait for a steam sale to pick it up.
Its not quite a 1 to 1 issue tho. Vassal is more "pure". Birds eye view, movement is exact, ect. TTS is more real, inexact movement, table bumping, etc.
My problem with those sims is for me it takes away a few key parts.
1. Actually being out and gaming with friends.
2. Playing in stores is a great way for other people to get exposed to the game.

#2 definitely. Gotta play publicly to build the community. Not only to show people the game, but to show interested people there are players to get games with.
Edited by flightmaster101Granted, you kind of need a local store to play at for #2 to be valid. And #1 is great, but if all your friends want to play is Magic, you've got to look elsewhere for that Runewars hit.

Build a game store? Next we'll all meet Budgernaut, the entrepreneur!

Sure, why not?
Sounds like there is a hole in the market.
I played a 200pt game last Saturday at a local game store with my nephew. While there someone walked up and asked about the game, then a co-owner of the store was asking about it and after watching went and ordered Latari for himself.
