Au Nationals Cheater!?

By RIP Yoda, in X-Wing Organized Play

I was versing a player running; Kanan (Ghost) , Stress Hog Y, and Zeb. I was running triple aces (imperial) and the fact that he destroyed 64 points of my squad was due to his end of combat phase tlt shots. The first time he triggered this, he shot twice and I said "I thought you could only shoot once?" but he said "No they made an errata." So basically he was pushing out 4 points of damage each turn which tore apart my Quickdraw. And then he activated his stress effect on Countess Ryad with his Y, which he said apparently turns of tie/X7. To that I replied "No only bumping and obstacles affects that." He then said there was an errata. In the end I won primarily with AT, PTL, Tie/vi Inquisitor. But could someone please clear these rules up for me before someone pulls a trick like that again.

- Cheers

tie/X7 was changed to read: “After executing a 3-, 4-, or 5-speed maneuver, if you did not overlap an obstacle or ship, you may perform a free evade action." So he was correct there, if you are stressed you are unable to perform the free evade action.

TLT has an FAQ entry that reads as: If a VCX-100 is equipped with the Ghost title, has a docked Attack Shuttle equipped with the Phantom title, and performs an attack with a Twin Laser Turret at the end of the Combat phase, that ship can perform the second attack with Twin Laser Turret.

He was all good.

The second sentence should read:

“After executing a 3-, 4-, or 5-speed maneuver, if you did not overlap an obstacle or ship, you may perform a free evade action."

Twin laser turret on p 21

See "Timing Chart for Performing an Attack" on page 8.

If a VCX-100 is equipped with the Ghost title, has a docked Attack Shuttle equipped with the Phantom title, and performs an attack with a Twin Laser Turret at the end of the Combat phase, that ship can perform the second attack with Twin Laser Turret.

The change from "assign a token" to a "free evade action" makes him right about the stress, the second is pretty clear. As long as zeb stayed docked on the ghost it's pretty right.

You on the other hand by tournament rules should have had a copy of that faq handy to check during the match, or at least have called a t/o at the time if you felt you were right. If you ever need a copy of said updates keep an eye on the product page for xwing. Calling your opponent out as a cheater on answers you should have known where to find and have at that level (It's not like it's a fly casual event ) puts you squarely in the wrong on several levels...

Just gonna say this - calling someone a cheater before you've even read the FAQ, and implying they were deceiving you without even bothering to check is pretty crap.

It's OK to not know all the details of the rules, and have stuff to learn. It's not OK to throw accusations at people like that without basis.

You could clear these rules up... for yourself... by reading and familiarizing yourself with all relevant FAQs and eratas... before you play in a national tournament...

Then you accuse your opponent, the player who DID THEIR HOMEWORK, with cheating. Classy move. Furthermore, you have the right at a tournament to call over a TO rather than blindly believing whatever your opponent might say, who would have (in this case) explained that your opponent was right, so you wouldnt have to come here with this bush-league nonsense.

no

Also get this main forum trash far from the relative purity of our squad building subforum.

Shouldn't you read the rules, faqs and erratas before going into a National Championship!?!!?

It was the side event didn't actually compete in nationals.

Anyways thank you for the helpful clarification!

never the less... you're implying someone cheats when you don't have full understanding of the game.

Thanks! I just made a simple misunderstanding of sometimes very tedious card print!

Yeah, I do want to apologize for being an arrogant opponent and I have learned to memorize the Faqs inside and out and thank you for the much needed wake up call.

Thanks for the clarification. Can you please forgive me for being an arrogant X-wing player?

Btw it was the nationals side event so it was much more casual.

No no no, we're not the bad guy here. You post an inflammatory, clickbait title accusing your opponent of cheating and ultimately the entire event of letting that happen, when the truth is your own ignorance is at fault. That's complete bull. You were on a side table? It was casual? Where is that mentioned in your outrageous thread name and OP?

Also, MODS, why is this steaming pile still a stain on the face of glorious X-Wing Squad Lists subforum!?

You get that the problem isn't that you were wrong, but that you started throwing accusations first?

Apparently not. Also, welcome to my ignore list.

Yeah OP was wrong but one will be mistaken to say such confusions will NEVER happen . In a matter of fact it was inevitable. Which is why I said there should have been alternatives than dumping a bottle of ink on the cards for affecting the meta balance. Thus what is done is done but it has greatly affected the production model for X-wing expansions, and will likely continue.

As for you you have displayed a surprisingly amount of arrogance in declaring your (favorite) forum the golden and everyone else the unwashed . Almost like declaring the only way to play X-wing is with small based primary firing arc only ships. <_<

The way that Squad Lists remains good is by being, you know, about squad lists. Helping with cool ideas, workshopping minutia, each thread pretty focused and generally helpful.

This thread MODS still has MODS PLZ absolutely nothing SRSLY ANYONE to do with Squad lists and PLZ doesn't belong here. This is main page nonsense, which all but the willfully obtuse will admit is generally the same reheated garbage ad nauseaum until the end of time. Until every so often we get new garbage, which is fresh and interesting for a couple of days until it needs to be reheated and the cycle continues. WILL SOMEONE PLEASE MOVE THIS THREAD?

You want to be golden, don't want to be unwashed? Be helpful. Wanna be helpful, but don't know how? Read the other threads in X-Wing Squad Building. Lotsa helpful folk who love the game and discuss the game constructively.

My arrogance will never change the fact that this thread doesn't belong here.

giphy.gif

Lesson to be learned from this... NEVER label ANYONE a cheater, until you know with 100% certainty. If you are still asking questions and gathering information... it would benefit us all if we presumed innocent until proven guilty.

Secondly, if this was not an actual Nationals event and just a side event, then it's probably not a good idea to label it "Nationals" in the thread topic.

The thread topic is basically click bait that this point given that this was not truly a nationals match and no one cheated.

Words mean things. And what you choose to put on the internet can not always be easily taken back.

Shocking. Rules confusion, even at a premier level. Say FA-Q to the FAQ.

If you dont know the rules you shouldn't be throwing accusations at others.

Wow, this topic. Not many winners in here.

It might get better when people who played against the OP start to join the fun. He might have played the X7 title wrong in the rest of his games. ^_^
