New to star wars armada

By Maximonious, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

Hey so im new to star wars armada. Im a rebel player, ive played a few games and i get my *** kicked. We've been doing "blow **** up" more than objectives. I was wondering if i could get input on my 400 point fleet.

Mc80 command cruiser

Advanced projectors, disposable capacitors, fighter coord team, flight commander, overload pulse, defiance title, and x17 lasers with admiral ackbar.

Cr90 corvette

Projection experts, tantive 4, leia organa, T.R.C.

Cr90 corvette

Projection experts, T.R.C.

2x x wings, lancer class pursuit craft, rogue squadron, nora wexley, b wing, e wing

Get rid of overload pulse. It triggers after tokens are spent, so it won't benefit you on the attack you use it, so you have to double arc and shoot out of two arcs and you don't want to do that with Ackbar.

The lancer is really sub par compared to other choices the rebels have. I'd replace it.

Projection experts want engeneering commands, however, the Cr90s like to do nav commands or concentrate fire commands, I have a hard time seeing them generate tokens that you could ship over to the MC80 with the Tantive IV title.

Disposable capacitors only go on small and medium ships and can't go on to MC80s.

Three ship activations is a bit on the very low end.

Hope that helps,

Doppel

You should use objectives!

Even if y'all just pick one at random, it'll add a lot more variety to your games.

Definitely you should use objectives. Not only do they, as svelok has mentioned above, add variety, they are a way of balancing the game. Objectives benefit the second player to make up for the natural advantage that activating first affords the first player.

It might also be worth it to use a fleet builder like: http://armadawarlords.hivelabs.solutions

A word on Ackbar: he doesn't really do anything for squadrons, so I'd only bring a few to protect against bombers, like Jan Ors and 3 X-Wings

Welcome @Maximonious

Some good tips so far, but if you get a chance to try to fleet out and come back there is a lot of good people around here that can help you find something that you have a lot of fun with.

Keep at it, it takes a while to figure out good synergies. And then even longer to figure out to maneuver and activate that synergy effectively.

I've been playing on and off since Core, and just figured out how Flight Controllers/Howlrunner/Dengar allows a TIE Interceptor to roll 6 blue attack and counter attack with 4 blue. I also just ran Mon Karren for a second time, and with much more experience behind me, she is an absolute beast. So take your time, come to the forums with questions, and enjoy yourself as you discover the games depth.

Basically, what they said...

Armada is a very well-balanced game. As previously mentioned, I would certainly recommend using objectives as they do help maintain that game balance.

Fleet building in Armada is a very interesting affair - finding combinations that work is a very satisfying experience but there's a lot of trial and error involved. Of course, there's absolutely nothing wrong with throwing a bunch of stuff together that looks cool and having fun, too!
