Creating our own narrative. Chapter 1

By Englishpete, in Star Wars: Armada

A friend and I are starting a little fun narrative. The idea being that before each battle, we dice off to pick which side we play. After the game, the person who did not write the scenario we just played writes the next scenario based on the result of the prior one and so on and so forth, building our own mini saga.

Here is scenario 1 and its fleets.

Scenario 1

The Rebels are desperate for supplies and are having to take great risks to deliver them. A small, lightly protected, Rebel supply convoy has run afoul of an Imperial patrol in the Outer Rim.

Play the game on a 3x3 board with no obstacles. The game lasts 8 turns. The Imperial player has initiative.

Imperial victory if both Rebel transports are destroyed.

Rebel victory if both transports survive.

Any other result is a draw.

The lists are as follows.

REBELS

GR-75 Medium Transports (18 points)

= 18 total ship cost

GR-75 Medium Transports (18 points)

= 18 total ship cost

Hammerhead Torpedo Corvette (36 points)

- Assault Proton Torpedoes ( 5 points)

= 41 total ship cost

3 X-Wing Squadrons ( 39 points)

IMPERIALS

Quasar Fire II-class Cruiser-Carrier (61 points)

- Flight Commander ( 3 points)

- Gunnery Team ( 7 points)

- Expanded Hangar Bay ( 5 points)

= 76 total ship cost

2 TIE Bomber Squadrons ( 18 points)

3 TIE Fighter Squadrons ( 24 points)

I've been wanting to try out a little scenario like this with the Quasar and sqadrons like that Rylof episode from Rebels. This one sounds fun.

We have done something similar here.

Our next episode is going to be a similar narrative to your scenario!

Love it. Looks really cool.

These sorts of custom scenarios are a super good time. My local group will ocassionally (try for monthly) run small format events with crazy alternate rules and they are always a total blast.

I feel like these are also a good way to introduce objective play to newer players, having a smaller game with specific objectives would give them a more natural feel over "hey now there are even MORE rules"

I just tire of the same old 400 points tournament scene and this changes it up for me. It also allows mates to use non-optimal ships and lists in a new way.

Purely for fun, but strangely entertaining.

These are awesome, can we start collecting these ideas?

My suggestion is for people playing the corellian conflict to write up a recap of the battle, usually the loser being the one that writes the story. It's pretty fun.
