Stoked to bring some rogue squadron 3 love to my hotac campaign!

If the image worked I'd be intrigued, but for now I'm just looking at an Imgur code.

Should work now. I don't know what's wrong with linking imgur galleries here nowadays but it doesn't work like it used to
Very nice! Now I'm intrigued how one would look with blued steel and wooden panels, though. (It could be called the TIE 1911!)
I'm kinda hoping the next small based imperial ship will be the Hunter
That way everybody but the rebels can have an X-wing equivalent that is better than it.

What stats do you use for these babies?

Something like this, I suppose.

I hope they use FractalSponge's model.
Because quite frankly, you can't fit shields, an ion cannon, proton torpedoes, a hyperdrive, any of that- into a TIE Pod with tiny folding wings, without using FractalSponge's model.
The TIE Hunter is basically the poor man's TIE Defender.

If the gunboat showed us anything, is that the designers are aware of fractalsponge ![]()

This is true! I'm pretty sure they email him sometimes saying, "WE GON USE UR STUF WOLOLOL" because the TIE Defender Elite looks STRIKINGKLY like Hisao's Defender.

The details are nothing alike! They still use TIE-Fighter connecting struts (instead of wings), the missiles are on the wings (and not along the cockpit), and they extended the back (where Fractal ends in the typical TIE Hub). The Rebels crew made their own version of an "Elite TIE Defender" instead of referencing any other depiction. It would have been a splendid opportunity to do so, but they chose not to. All the more the shame because there are many other artists have made prettier TIE Defender depictions.
I didn't like the TIE Hunter for Lackwit's reasons... that, and it looked too over the top by giving the design S-Foils (Look! We're like X-Wings, but TIE Fighters!). Fractal's version made me feel more generous to the design though, and I like on his version the wings fold inward.
Edited by NorsehoundVery nice work there, such a shame they ruined rogue squadron 3 with those awful on foot sections.

Hold up. We've been through this.

Now, there is a detail here, that elongated strut is a mostly flat section behind the connector, but it's still a visual cue similar to Hisao's TIE Defender. And again, like his, the wing is FAR longer. Now, the TIE Defender from TIE Fighter onwards, eventually was deemed to unfamiliar to be fully recognized as a TIE Series vessel. It's not that I fully agree with this decision, but I do enjoy the more synonymous/contemporary aesthetic they've gone with since XWA came out.
But it is what it is. The TIE Defender will always look like a TIE Interceptor with an extra wing. The best we can do? We can hope the TIE Defender stays like the Elite in the future. Now you can say they don't do that, since Battlefront featured a very standard looking TIE Defender, but we absolutely do not know that, because the TIE/D-e only came out afterwards, there were likely no plans for this iteration in 2015.
I should also note that the rear section has been elongated as well.
So really, the TIE/D-e is the most TIE Fighter / XWA TIE Defender we've ever gotten.
About the TIE Hunter, I completely agree that Hisao's version is far superior. It makes it more of an X-Wing Deconstruction than an X-Wing contemporary, "We can do it too but not really" kind of vessel.

They really did. What also didn't help was using the exact same engine and making it come out so quickly after the second, compared to the distance between I and II. III is essentially the reason Factor 5 didn't make it much longer afterwards, it's such a huge shame because Rogue Squadron II is one of the best Star Wars games ever made, full stop.
On the same top ten as Dark Forces II, X-Wing: Alliance, Episode I Racer and Jedi Academy (if not for the bleh story, but for the multiplayer that still holds up to this day, and its absolutely unparalleled Lightsaber Combat.)

As you wish. There is nothing I love more than debating the finer points of Starship design. Thor: Ragnarok was a real treat that way.
Really nice models!
Some time or another, we're basically bound to get the Hunters officially, right? At least with the current speed of releases. ![]()
I'd like to see something with a low primary attack, but a TiE/x1-style title, but for cannons.

Has anyone compared the footage from the trailer (with the 'yellow trim' defender in space) which is obviously from later in the series to the Flight Of The Defender Defender Elite and the Secret Cargo Defender Prototype to see which one it resembles?

I don't think so, no.

Nice! I definitely like your jamming effect better - it seems more universally good (the FFG Jamming Beam is only really good against ordnance).
I do think that the Hunter needs an attack of three in HotAC though... last time we played HotAC, the guy setting it up was super annoyed at how easy the bosses were to beat. Maybe it’s because we had K-Wings and ARC-170s (and lots of bombs), which HotAC wasn’t designed for. Really powerful primary attacks from the boss-level ships makes people more likely to want that higher agility.

3 attack for this 2 lasers ship would be unfair. It just needs the Linked Ion Cannon. ![]()

Ah, sorry, somehow I missed it had cannons! I guess I’m just so used to TIEs getting snubbed when it comes to cannon slots (except the awesome Defender, obviously).![]()

Ok, those would be crazy overpowered in the normal game, but it’s HotAC, so enjoy! Actually looks like a very fair and balanced boss-level fight for your players.

I still disagree, but to illustrate why I would need to compile photos with callouts... As one does with nerdy fantasy space vehicle hardware discussions.
Someday through shapeways I also want to make models of all the myriad TIE Defender depictions. There are something like four or five, depending on the artist.
Where did those TIE hunters come from? The wings from Mel's don't look as long as that
