Door height for the scenery buildings

By Giulio, in Star Wars: Legion

I have seen different height for the doors of the scenery we are making. Which is the right size? 40mm is ok?

I t hink one of the videos I was watching suggested that you use scenery in the 1:48 or 1:50 scale as that would be what's most likely to be available and close to the right size (each is only slightly bigger than the legion scale). I might just measure the door of off one of those, unless you can find somewhere the mm height of their doors.

Stormtroopers are roughly 34mm high, so that use that as starting point. For a large door or even arch 40mm sounds good. If you want a smaller space 34mm or slightly below can make it look like the characters would need to take care not to hit their heads.

Thank you both for the reply.

34mm base included?

The scale of the figures, for Legion at least (as it can differ from game to game), refers to the height of the figure itself, meaning it does NOT include the base.

(That said, he may have added in a little extra for the base, but I haven't found anything anywhere that gives a definitive size for the base itself)

They are just slightly larger than 40k miniatures. I seem to remember 34mm is what they said. Keep in mind that in this universe races are all shapes and sizes. Keeping door ways close to 34-36mm for Imperial would be good because they tend to favor humans or humanoid. 40mm would not seem out of place because they are accommodating a wide variety of races. Even Imperial doorways appear to be roughly 7 ft tall.

Yes something in the 1.5 inch area should be fine. Make it a tad larger if you're worried, but 2 inches is definitely going to be too big.

Also if you're very nervous just stick to buildings that have really big doors. Warehouses, hangers, garages, Imperial style bunkers... Then do smaller once the minis actually come out.

Err on the taller side. You don't want Chewbacca to be released and unable to fit throw your doors because they're all Luke sized...

Chewie always had to bend over

Depends on the height of who goes through the door.

An Ewok door won't be as high as a human door and a Wookie door will be somewhat higher, a Hutt door may be as high as a human door but it will be wider.

You are probably a stormtrooper at heart, and thus not being all that short, always end up hitting your head on door jams and bulkheads. :D
